Subs: Surely Pellers replaced Sterling rather than Nasri as he didn't want two wingers meaning our midfield being overrun as it has been so often in the CL.

If Nasri was tucked in then you might have a point but Nasri stayed wide and apart from jogging back offered nothing defensively. If you wanted to make a defensive sub you keep Sterling on because the lad tracks back and supports Kolarov

When will we ever learn... First for the millionth time: Never start players who are not 100% fit in these matches.
Now more importantly, we are currently probably the most in form team in Europe, we face juve who are a shadow of the team they were last year and instead of trashing them we give them too much respect. Still, in spite of everything, we take the lead, we have the chance to kill of the game... Everything is going our way and we still somehow manage to fuck it up. This is beyond me, it is our fifth season there are no more excuses. Sure there are 5 more games etc. but this was the ideal opportunity to start the CL campaign in the best possible way and we blew it.
PS. Bony is crap, Jovetic and Dzeko both better options, especially Jo Jo, but thats a completely different topic...

Nasri was drifting the entire game into central areas and there was no interchange between him Silva and Sterling.

Silva was more disciplined by staying on the left and ditto for Sterling.

It should have been Silva centrally and Sterling/De Bruyne either side.

Nasri is a quality footballer but he is Silvas back up centrally. When he plays on the right he unbalances the team and slows down the game.

I don't think we played poorly, but we have got to start taking our chances and tbh we could do with a bit of luck.

Juve had a conversion rate of about 70% which is clinically harsh. The CL is the pinnacle of football and simply we are playing better teams, but when Moratta pulls out a fucking worldy like that it does make you scratch your head.

By the time they scored we could and should have been 3 up.

No he's never been that player for us in our big games. It's usually Kun or Yaya winning us those ties. We all know he's crucial to our style of play in the final third but he's never been a matchwinner for us. Only game I remember him taking by the scruff of the neck is Liverpool away in 13/14 (which ended up being wasted mind)

If winning is purely based on scoring the winning goal then maybe..He was alright in the 6-1 wasn't he, Hull away he ran the show, first four games this season he did the same which has finally got him some recognition as being best player in the league. Goals no but control and killer pass yes

Nonsense. The best player on the team should be the matchwinner in these big games. Silva has never been that player for us. When has he ever won us a game like Nasri did at Roma last season. More should be expected out of him.

I think you should have a lie down Chris.

Navas should have been on for Nasri, in order to give us more width and better defensive capability.

He should have started.

We were perhaps a little cautious but at 1-0 few would have said we made tactical mistakes. We just failed to kill them off, and they came back and scored with two of their rare attacks. And some goals they were. I don't think you can be too critical of anything other than our finishing

come on, as a juventus fan i say u cannot say silva is not a matchwinner...today we needed three players to stop him everytime he had the ball...
anyway u thought we were a modest team, but we are not... we are a great team, don't think about the matches in serie A, we changed a lot of players and we got unlucky in the first three games...

It wasn't tactics that failed to finish them though was it? We had the chance but missed it. That was a theme of the night

Fair to say that it was a cagey and very competitive game and we could have gambled a bit more, but the main reason we lost that game was because Juve had one of those nights where they had about 4 or 5 attacks and scored 2 goals and City failed to take our own chances.

Our general play was OK.

Just stifled by a Classic Italian team. As I alluded to before, the only thing I can pick tactically was playing Nasri on the right.

I thought Bony was particularly poor and looked a bit star struck and let the occasion get to him. Remember he has very limited CL experience.

We were otherwise sound. We do need the tide to turn a little though. I think we are unlucky on occasion in this competition and whilst you generally make your own luck, teams are ruthless when they come to the Etihad and generally take the chance/s that are created.

The fine details usually go against us, we get those breaks in the league.
