Post Match Thread: City vs Southampton

Not seen any of the game today as I was having a day out with the better half at Newstead Abbey in Nottingham!

I'm a big Byron fan so it was wonderful and we got a private tour of Byron's bedroom which was closed to the general public!

So to come home and see that we won, and the rags drew to put us top has capped off a perfect day for me & my girlfriend!

I'm absolutely buzzing! For once, I can say I'm perfectly content!

Just how fucking pathetically bad is Willfried?
£28m for a complete and total duck egg.
Why not play the young lad instead?
Does my head in does Pellegrini.

We weren't perfect but we were miles better than last Saturday. I was concerned about the triangle of our two CB'sand Willy but in the event they played pretty well together. My only complaint is the way the two CBs throw themselves into tackles and the habit has spread to the two Ferns; this creates space for the opposition and can mean we are outnumbered when they don't get the ball. Going forward we were pretty good, especially in the first twenty minutes, and Sterling was much more the player we had in Seville. Delph had a very good first start and does what he's supposed - gives us an injection of energy and urgency. We started off at a frantic tempo and looked better for it - there was no chance of us being out of the game before we were in it as happened last week. It got a bit tense after they scored but that was the memory of a bad week as much as anything and the third settled the match finally. Alex Kolorov had a good game, as did Ya Ya, Sagna was effective in defence and supported the attack and it was, of course, great to see David Silva back. In summary, well done Pellers and all the players on a gutsy, positive performance which was not devoid of quality. I believe we're still top of the table and hopefully we're going to get right back to form and get our injured stars back.

Pellegrini before Liverpool: "Aguero is not yet ready to start 3 games a week."

Fast forward 3 games... Aguero starts every one and gets injured.

Didnt you also slam Pellegrini in one of those games for substituting Aguero after an hour?

A much needed win & top of the table again. Could've been far worse.

Nice to see the Dinho Delph combo working, KdB was great, Willy made a fair few good saves.

MDM looked off the pace, the defending for Tadic chance was criminal. Another "decent" performance by Toure, but still don't agree with building the team to accommodate his presence no matter the consequences.

I'm worried about you being content,it's not normal lol

We looked ordinary at best again today, really piss poor performance from Southampton in the first 20 minutes, from then on they bossed the game. This team is nothing more than ordinary under Pellers, a test of a great manager is the ability to make new signings improve their game, in this respect he has clearly failed, I give you Bony and Sterling as just two examples. Roll on next summer when hopefully we can get a manger in who can motivate and get the very best out of his players because what we saw today was just another average performance, it could have gone either way and those that think otherwise are simply delusional. The sheik will not stand for mediocre and for most of this season that is exactly what we have been, to be behind the rags for todays match is simply not acceptable. Perhaps a little of the team ethic that Leicester have would not be lost on the present City team, we had it once but unfortunately it seems to have been lost.

Fresh bait on this one

A much better performance today, Pellegrini selecting a midfield three relieved Yaya of his defensive duties but when Silva is fit to start I think it should be Yaya who drops to the bench. Sterling, Delph and KdB did well, as did Kolarov and Sagna. Demichelis was shaky and that chance where Tajdic walked through with no challenge was abysmal defending. Willy wasn't too clever with the goal, he looked rooted to his line, but made a couple of good saves. Bony is struggling for any kind of form which is a worry with Sergio limping off.
