Post Match Thread: Kiev 1 - 3 City

Kiev were terrible other than a ten minute spell in the second half. Let's not get carried away, we pretty much got the easiest draw possible and they hadn't played a proper game for three months.

But we were as good as they were terrible. We got the tactics right, the formation right, the team selection right, we defended well, we kept the ball when we needed to well, we created chances and scored some lovely goals.

This will be conveniently overlooked in their match analysis.

No we didn't, the exsperts said they were shit don't you know!!!!!!!!!

It was poor defending, they hadn't played for weeks, they pissed about on the Costa Del Sol. And Dixon thinks he, Keane and Pougatch could have beaten them. Oh yeah! Can you imagine that line of analysis if MANUre had turned in that display. It would be completely the opposite with ne'er a mention of poor defending. It's a clear dichotomy of negative and positive reporting! We're used to it. We know the RagDipperMeedya line! Never varies. MANUre right, City wrong!

Excellent game but we can not let all those chances go against a better team, aguero has to finish that shot at he end of the first half. We let them back in that game which worried me

Just got back to my hotel near Boryspil airport, flight back leaves in five-and-a-half hours!

And as a first away day in Europe, I'd like to say: GET THE FUCK IN!!!!!!!

Bloody loved it! Good show by the 500 who made it over here, and a great performance by the team on the whole (ok, not perfect, but surely should see us through).

This could get quite addictive!!

One non-football thought: the Kiev fans we spoke to were great, even going as far as sharing a fan's Ukrainian whisky in the weird queue/mob/scrum to get in. Yet the Ukrainian police (and seemingly the Army too) felt it right to keep us back 30 minutes, which only served to wind up every City fan; a calm and happy atmosphere slowly degenerating to a rather more frustrated and aggressive situation. And when we got out, there was literally no-one about except half a dozen scarf sellers!
Great effort for going. Away fans are often kept inside for their own protection. If the local police get a whiff of trouble they don't risk it. Too much paperwork.

We played much better but on three occasions we gave up possession 30 yards from our goal. Against Liverpool that will get punished. Need to be way more careful.

For me the best development tonight aside from the result itself was that Sterling seemed to remember he can beat people off the dribble. He stopped hesitating and started taking people on and it made a world of difference. Prem defenders seem more aware of his push it to the goal line move and suss it out easier but it was just great to see him playing with confidence again

Good performance against a very poor side.Liked the way we pressed them in the first half and pretty much everyone had a decent game. MOTM for me was Fernandinho followed by Silva.

I thought City performed very well tonight but according to the "pundits" in the media, the Ukrainieans were piss poor for once, not able to compete. Any chance that maybe Man City were just too good and defeated them with good football?
