Post Something Interesting

I live on the second floor of a block of flats, came home yesterday, walked through the fire doors on to my landing and found a little visitor perched upside down on a door frame.
Wondered what the hell it was for a minute, then realised it was a Bat. I have no idea how it got in as the landing is fairly air tight.
I didn't want to touch it as I knew they were a protected species.
So I phoned the 'National Bat Helpline' (yes there is one). they advised me to try and catch it, put it in a shoe box and take it to a local vet, which I did.
The vets were really exited when I told them what was in the box, several vets came out to reception to have a look, I guess they must get bored of seeing cats and dogs all day,
anyway they said they'd give it a health check and release it later in Southern Cemetery. IMG_20210813_134732.jpgIMG_20210813_140058.jpg

I would never try to touch a bat, they can carry rabies

Around the world, there are approximately 4 new, live births every second. So, when I was born, I was for a fraction of a second, the newest baby on the planet. And so were you.

The most distant object that most folks can see with the unaided eye is also the closest major galaxy to our own Milky Way. Although the Andromeda Galaxy lies a mind-bending 2.5 million light-years from Earth, its trillion stars are enough to emit a strong glow across the vast reaches of space. Despite the wide gap, the Milky Way and Andromeda are on a collision course and predicted to begin merging in roughly 4.5 billion years. (You've been warned.)

How long till the snow arrives?
We were supposed to get some last week but it didn’t happen, I’d like for it to hold off as long as possible this year due to work, the last few weeks have been beautiful, freezing several mornings but warming up nicely

Love that time of year. Not that get much of it, but that fine line between clear cold mornings and still warmth in the days. Then we just get greyness and rain for 6 months.
