Edit: I mis-read your post - I wouldn't say they were THE key players, but they were undoubtedly very important players. Bonucci, for example, was arguably just as important as any of them. And Pirlo played a relatively bit-part role.

I kind of replied in my edit of the previous post, but I would argue that Bonucci was one of the key players in Juve's CL run. As was Morata (five goals in the knockout rounds, including 3 between semis and final), or Lichtsteiner. More than Pirlo and definitely more than Pogba (who missed the entire quarter finals and the first leg of the semi due to injury).4 down. 1 left. So it's not really the team that made the Champions League final.

Juve are in poor form, but they are still the European vice-champions.

They placed 2nd in the CL. They were CL finalists last season. They were vice-champions. Take your pick, they all mean the same thing.That's not a thing.
Perhaps it's a linguistic thing - in Italian the team that places 2nd is always referred to as vice-champions. In which case, apologies, English isn't my first language.
