Premier League agrees the "New Deal for Football" aka please don't regulate us.

The thing no one at the PL understands is that the Carabao is the only proper cup comp left.

The only fixture at Wembley is the final.
35,000 fans from each team rather than zillions of corporate wankers taking the tickets.
7.30 kick off times midweek
Cheaper tickets.

The FA cup with 2 trips to Wembley needed and crazy pricing is just annoying.

Instead we now have the joy of 5 European games at home to look forward to before we get to play a knockout game. All seeded so it's effectively a superleague in all but name.

Joke.

Not sure I see what is so "radical" about it, I am afraid. Also not sure how this will keep government regulators out. We will see I suppose.

Why can’t football just be left alone?

The only things that need to change in this sport are:

1. Mic up the officials and VAR, and show the fans in the stadium footage of the VAR on the big screens

2. Bring in a campaign to stop all the diving and feigning injury. Retrospective heavy fines and bans for those who are seen to be diving and pretending to be injured when there’s fuck all up with them.

3. Bring in a 15 second countdown clock for goal kicks
agree with this although one thing i would change is make the 4th official responsible for VAR in the stadium and put them somewhere they can not be influenced by either club

I like that...plus,
4. A 30 second countdown clock for var.

It nearly fell by the wayside back in the 1960s,until the final was moved to Wembley and the winners qualified for a European competition.
What goes around comes around.

Presumably the winners of the League cup will lose their Europa League qualifying round place then
The winners currently go into the Euro Conference, and it's likely they'll be at least as good as 80% of other teams in it, so them not being in Europe when they win the LC won't dimising the Conference.
It seems a long time since the LC winners didn't also qualify for CL or TL via league position.

I see a mid season break has been brought in by stealth on the back of this shitty WC.

Only a week so far but it'll grow.

If you remember they had a winter break of sorts the year before Covid. It was intended as a permanent thing then. It’s just next season will be the first normal season since.
