Premier League agrees the "New Deal for Football" aka please don't regulate us.

Makes me laugh. From the Government that wants to de regulate everything from Fire regulation to Financial services, but it's ok for football. pmsl

Why can’t football just be left alone?

The only things that need to change in this sport are:

1. Mic up the officials and VAR, and show the fans in the stadium footage of the VAR on the big screens

2. Bring in a campaign to stop all the diving and feigning injury. Retrospective heavy fines and bans for those who are seen to be diving and pretending to be injured when there’s fuck all up with them.

3. Bring in a 15 second countdown clock for goal kicks
I would also add that VAR should see any incident in real time to determine if obvious error made. Slow-mo can make anything look bad

What a load of shite.

Why are they trying to dilute football?

I went 40 odd years hoping we'd win the league Cup or any cup as a matter of fact, and now we're not going to be competing in it?

I'd rather not be in Europe and play in it, it has prestige and is woven into the fabric of football in England.
I love the League Cup

The thing no one at the PL understands is that the Carabao is the only proper cup comp left.

The only fixture at Wembley is the final.
35,000 fans from each team rather than zillions of corporate wankers taking the tickets.
7.30 kick off times midweek
Cheaper tickets.

The FA cup with 2 trips to Wembley needed and crazy pricing is just annoying.

Instead we now have the joy of 5 European games at home to look forward to before we get to play a knockout game. All seeded so it's effectively a superleague in all but name.

Joke.

Well put.

The League Cup experience as a fan has been miles better than the FA Cup experience.

I don't want us to withdraw from this, rather we played a young side in the early rounds alongside us playing these pointless European group games and then hopefully we're still in it come the semi-finals/final.

Couldn’t agree more. They should have kept the league cup for all and reduced the PL to 18. Then had 5 teams relegated and dropped the parachute payments. Gives FL clubs a great chance to get into the PL and finishing 14th means you’re down. It might then lead to more open football and less pressure on managers as relegation shouldn’t be such a daunting prospect, with 5 teams promoted.

No more League Cup??
I have had some great days out at Wembley for League Cup Finals in the last 10 years,so that is a bit disappointing, but I suppose it will help relieve some of the fixture congestion that the top sides get.
Plus it will allow some new names to go on the League Cup.
It is complete nonsense. The League Cup gives an opportunity for fringe players such as the backup goalkeeper to get a game. It also gives a chance to EDS players.

This is all an evil plot by Liverpool to stop City passing them as all time winners.

Domestic quad will be ours for all of eternity.

However, it's not a great move in my opinion. English heritage matters.
