The League Cup won’t last long without the top sides in it. Crowds and interest will drop off massively. The TV deal will be nothing.

It nearly fell by the wayside back in the 1960s,until the final was moved to Wembley and the winners qualified for a European competition. The League Cup won’t last long without the top sides in it. Crowds and interest will drop off massively.
The League Cup going is a direct result of the fixture congestion cause by the pointlessly expanded Champions League.
I think it will prove unpopular amongst fans, but when have we ever mattered?
On the bright side...Nobody will be able to equal our domestic trebleNo more League cup for sides in Europe, so they'll be no more "Unprecedented Quadruple" chances for the dippers and no worries, for the media, about ignoring City winning four major trophies in one season.
Why? Although unlikely, a club could still win the league, league cup and FA cup if they aren't in European competition. On the bright side...Nobody will be able to equal our domestic treble
