Premier League Games 12-18 Jan '23

Arsenal are not better than us they have more energy & have a very balanced hungry team.

We are exhausted. Players in wrong positions maybe due to injury & we are as low in confidence as we have been in years.

Arsenal are not dipping this season they are only improving sadly.

Right now they deserve to be top
Arsenal might not have a better team than us individually, but as a unit they are better than us.

You’d barely take any of their players, Ødergaard aside. Saka is decent but Foden is better: one has just got loads of confidence and form and is playing in a system that’s getting the best out of him, and the other is completely out of both at the moment and is playing in a slow as fuck backwards and sideways passing system that’s not utilising him at all.

But football isn’t about individual players, it’s about the unit. Their unit’s tactics are playing to its own strengths at the optimal and their unit is the best around at the moment. Our unit looks disjointed, too many injuries at the back, too slow, too many out of form…

Zinchenko didn't cost us at all. And don't dare point at that West Ham game at the end of last season when Fernandinho was hobbling alongside him at centre-back. What Zinchenko did do was keep us fighting when the chips were down. Turned the 3-2 Villa game around almost on his own after coming on.

The sale of Jesus, I understood that. We had Haaland and Alvarez coming in. But we had bugger all coming in at left-back. Cancelo and Zinchenko were more than strong enough and we should have sold a better pitch to Zinchenko to keep him, but instead we let him go to our rivals without a proper replacement.

We should have put more energy into finding a back-up for Walker this summer. We're lucky that Rico Lewis has arrived to the party with a good head on his shoulders. We created a problem where there wasn't one by letting Zinchenko go. Now we're always a couple of injuries away from having Gomez play regularly. Disaster.

Zinchenko was fantastic. He was a fighter who understood Pep-ball. This will be three titles in a row for him and Jesus. He is a quality professional who, yes, has limitations, but gave his all, had seriously high quality footballing intelligence, and is showing that week in week out for a team currently on track for 100+ points.

I doubt many believe that the transfer window provided all the answers which needed resolving, but maybe FFP and things not falling in place contributed.

Also possibly we felt it was the right thing to do for Zinch ?

Impressed with Arsenal but Tottenham haven’t half helped them out .......... Conte looks like he’s after the sack

Good points. I think Arteta also a big reason they are doing well
