I reckon that doesn't go against Liverpool, I keep watching it and still can't see what his reasoning is for not giving the foul
 
It was a foul all day long. He took his legs out, border line scissor challenge. Nothing on the ball. It was a yellow card challenge. Yet the ref, even upon review, has allowed the goal after the play on.

You gave to wonder if refs are purposely making bad calls now, to get rid of VAR.

Not in my book, and apparently not the referees either. The brighton player goes for the ball, and the opponents legs are close and he falls as a result. By your logic, all ball-winning challenges involving the players legs getting in between should then be a free-kick?
