Club flogging blocks of tickets to one match attending fans

When you start shitting on your core support and stop your home being a fortress don't be surprised they just fuck you off.

Season ticket holders aren't valuable to any club...loyalty lies with revenue, not the people. like everything else in this life. 2x tickets for a high profile game bought by tourists coming over will be making more profit than an entire season ticket....half and half scarf sellers are making lots these days lol.

For once it was good to hear from Danny Wilson (at a recent OSC meeting) that the club are investigating ways of recognising fans that turn up to virtually every home game. The 50% doomsday scenario regarding not allowing you to renew was only in the 23/24 terms and conditions, not before or after so I doubt it can apply this season.

The lack of any information regarding maximum listing numbers doesn't give much confidence.

I’ve unfortunately come to the same conclusion. When I first heard about the expansion I was excited to see something special - our own home end finally. but now I’m seeing the plans and the buildings go up, the whole thing seems to be being built for tourists and corporates. I doubt I’m ever going to use the sky bar or hotel and I’d bet 99% of locals won’t either.

For the less glamorous games I’m not sure who’s filling these seats, as unless the prices come down it won’t be the core support.

Like lots of other city fans I’m feeling very disconnected from the club at the minute. Maybe that will change.

I can’t remember when it was last about the Community mate. I don’t reckon it was during either the Swales or Lee reigns.

There was a survey about 12 months ago asking (amongst other things) about whether points should be allocated based on the ST holder attending. Can't remember all the options though.

The hotel and tourists attractions may not be as you say "for locals". But revenue for Corporate, Hotel, Tours, Boxes, Prime seats, can all help reduce ticket prices for other people.
But how would you ensure that those cheaper seats went to people that stood alongside me watching Stev Kinsey ?
Or are locals who went to York, many "locals" are imports.
The whole situation is not easy to find an ideal situation.
The main issue on here is that people propose individual preference, the Club cannot look through that prism.
I receive concessionary prices, I don't think I should, 18/24 should be priorities, not FOCs.
I hope the fan led responses are the sensible and correct ones.
Historically the Club never made the "Community" the fans did it all by themselves.

When has that happened though? The same opinion was shared when the tunnel club was built, when people were forced out of the front rows for advertising, other corporate areas created.

I think the Club’s policy might need to change, particularly in relation to giving season card holders guaranteed refunds for games they don’t make. When will fans groups have the bottle to say season card holders, as well as the club, are partly responsible for the increase in “tourists” / “day trippers”?

Not sure that we have been pushing for that whatsoever. Apologies if you are referring to someone else.

What is fair to say is that I have been reticent to go too close to 19 games, recognising both that life gets in the way on occasion for supporters as well as the administrative burden for the Club.

Just to echo what @Alex - City Matters said, I'm not sure which fan groups, if any, have been advocating unlimited transfers of tickets mate.

In my opinion the business of football is eating itself up. Be interesting to see what the operating costs are as we don't make a massive amount of profit based on turnover. They need to look top to bottom - To be successful they need to keep the players. The players only stay if we pay them more than what they are being offered elsewhere...

To be logical we need to define affordable. What can local people afford to pay to be able to have a season ticket then number crunch and see what the impact is on the balance sheet ref turnover and profit. If we end up in negative equity or hardly any profit then we know they won't change it. A friend who was quite high up in the Finance department told me there is a wage ceiling and we were around 70% of all costs, this was a few years ago mind you hence we were buying lower wage players. The likes of Kev etc were on big £££'s.

We are being priced out of everything. I stopped the FA Cup and Carabou cup schemes since Covid season. I will be stopping Champs League cup scheme from next season. That leaves me with my season ticket and at some point I will most likely give that up. I've missed over half the home games and most of the Champs League games due to work and my sons sports commitments. My mates have been happy as they've been able to go to the games.

They obviously have a finance model that they are working to. Its a damn shame but unless football as a whole starts to cut costs, it will continually lead to price increases. It's happening in all walks of life. A trip to the cinema with my wife and 2 kids costs me over £100. I've now had my letters from BT, EE & Sky about Price increases - In general (in the UK from my experience) we are being priced out of alot of things in life.

I get why people get annoyed by tourists, half and half etc. Me personally I don't give 2 hoots. I'm there to watch the game with my mates and son and have a few beers then bugger off home. We will have to find a way to co-exist as its the only way money will come in.

Luckily the cinema we use allows you to bring own food in, but still take our own stuff when using cineworld etc.

I’ve posted before in this thread and my opinion hasn’t changed. I’ve been a season ticket holder with my dad for over 36 years, I’ve been home and away throughout including trips to Europe and who can forget Istanbul for those luckily enough to be there.

However, it’s come to the point where we won’t be renewing our season tickets next season. The constant price rises, the match day experience and the restrictions on parking around the stadium have made the day more of a chore.

Prices rises elsewhere and the increased TV coverage are starting to make it an easier decision. Football isn’t a cheap day anymore and will only keep increasing while there is a tourist fan base who are willing to pay for it.

I'm thinking the same but know if I did i would regret it at some point.

Do you not have anyone you can even share it with for a season? Once its gone you are never getting it back.

It is and it’s been a hard decision to make. Dont get me wrong other factors have come into play on a personal level as well. My dads 74 now and struggles with walking too and from the stadium and my 7 year old son isn’t interested in going due to his autism so it’s not like I’ve got that to continue the tradition either.

I could reduce the cost of my season ticket and move elsewhere in the stadium as I currently sit in the Colin Bell level 2 but even then I cant justify it.

I very much doubt our seats will be available either when the season ticket relocation window opens. I suspect, as city do when I sell on the exchange they will go to a hospitality package for £300 to £400 each.
