Interesting discussion on this on Newsnight tonight (from about 20 mins in). They replayed an interview with John Barnes from two weeks earlier where he predicted that when a black player messed up, maybe missed a penalty, they would get a harder time than a white player would in the same situation. Spot on and so wrong.

The main problem with a United States of Europe would be the fact that no one has bothered to ask the citizens of Europe if they want one, any party is free to push for one in a manifesto or god forbid the EU might want to actually ask the question themselves.

This country isn’t the best if I’m being honest but people need to look at each other a bit more rather than a shite govt who actually got voted in. As I have said before anyone who votes Tory or Labour have brought a lot of shite down on their own heads.

Asking the citizens if they want one, without a free press, is what has created the UK's mess: we cannot trust politicians or the media to report the advantages and risks properly and I am not sure we can count on the electorate to listen properly, regardless.

Think longer and harder about what your alternative is to people who are too daft or who don’t want to listen. What would you do with the sections of media who don’t report your truth. Immigration is one of those subjects that always ends badly on here.

By saying your truth, you are suggesting that I want it slanted in my political direction. What I actually said was that I wanted the advantages and risks to be laid before the electorate by honest politicians and a media that recognises that until this is done, we stay with the status quo and we are in dangerous times.

I think you need to put this in the brexit thread where people will agree with your view on the truth, what an honest politician is and how annoying it is that people with a different view ie the daft people shouldn’t really have a say in how you prefer the country to be run.
