Property advice for first time buyer

I’m cash buying but what are mortgage lenders offering now? 3.5 times your salary?

I would live in Manchester again but I’m just not finding value. I liked Failsworth loads. On the Oldham Road corridor plus the tram.

Lloyds — which includes Halifax — Barclays, Santander, NatWest, HSBC and TSB have all axed loans for borrowers with a deposit of 10% or less.

Great mortgage rates atm if you have a clean credit history, its just that deposit, you need minimum 10% these days, and with values as they are that is the stumbling block. If you can raise a deposit, rates of below 2% should be available for residential mortgages. Good luck with it all, its the most important purchase you will make.

That’s because the government would rather pay scrotes to lie in bed all day!

I’m assuming they’re students or something. I’d sooner work in Subway than sign on despite finding £6 for a sandwich obscene.

If you're buying a house to live in for the rest of your days then fine , but other than that choose an area where it would be easy to sell one ... because if you don't you might well be stuck there forever anyway!

I've bought and sold two houses in next to no time in East Didsbury and Cheadle Hulme , because people wanted to buy there , as i did ......... but our kid bought one, at the same time as i bought my first house, in a Worsley postcode that sat right on the border with one of Little Hultons roughest areas , kenyon Way ..... and he's still trying to sell it SEVEN YEARS after i sold mine!

Seven years! I sold my London home in two weeks when we were in lockdown. Seven viewings and three offers. Lesbians, they are. Screaming and squealing throughout. Paid asking price.

Yep. you did well .... which area of London was that?

My stepdaughter lives in leafy Greenwich , and she'll probably sell hers in five minutes if she ever decides to leave!

What about renting somewhere in town or is it not recommended? I always get told of the rent is dead money phrase
