Prostate cancer

Unfortunately we’ve received the news this week after my latest round of blood tests we’ve sadly not beaten this my cancer is still here and growing, I’m now with the Christie and will have to go under a quite intense session of radiotherapy, it’s devastating news especially for my wife and girls who have been through too much already, but we’ll fight and then fight again until we’ve beaten it .I’m in a minority who doesn’t beat this dreadful disease first time round so please don’t give up in thinking it’s all doom and gloom if you are unfortunate to have it , I’ve lost a war but the battle will be won .
Up the blues .

Please lads get checked .
A friend was diagnosed 10 yrs ago, he had symptoms and left it late, it was advanced and had to be removed.
He's now 75 and doing fine.
I note from your first post you had no symptoms and it was only found with a check up which is a wake up call to everyone, myself included.
All the best.

So sorry to hear this pal, I am wishing you a successful battle and a long life after.

Hope you recover mate .
My dad had aggressive prostate cancer .I had surgery 6 years ago for BPH but the symptoms are back. This time last year I found out I had high grade carcinoma in my bladder which was treated
I had to contact my GP surgery this week because it’s over 3 years since my last psa blood test . You think they wouldn’t really just leave it to me but fellas now you really have to demand and look after your own health because the system is not pro active .

It is mate , you really now need to be clued upon what you have , I’ll leave a long story short in what we endured this week my local practice and I’ll name it Manor House Glossop.
I phoned on Monday for my PSA results and they told me 0.3 no further action required. I questioned this after knowing my prostate has been removed. They had no clue they didn’t read my notes , they didn’t look into my history they looked at my psa and thought all was well . I contacted urology at Tameside and they moved into action. I’ll leave this here for now because it’s not the right time to get angry but that’s an example of sheer negligence.

Get onto your Docs and request/insist on a blood test . I have done this constantly and never been refused test . My reading now is so high that now have monthly test. Had MRI 2 weeks ago which put me in trouble so monitoring now.

That’s absolutely gutting news for you and your family mate, was only thinking about you the other day on a hike (always do on a long one, going uphill, with snow boots on, for some reason lol).

Keep fighting G like I know you will, we’re all behind you wishing you all the very best on this and we’ll see you on the next walk buddy ;-).

That’s shocking mate, but not surprising !

As I’ve said many times before as you know, too many GP’s and their staff don’t look into the history and recognise that some medications interfere with your PSA score, I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve received letters saying ‘no further action’ because they’ve just read my score, and it’s only when I’ve asked if they’ve taken my ‘Dutasteride’ into account on that score and they reply “erm, I don’t know” that you realise.

Don’t take anything for granted lads, if you have questions or you don’t feel right, ask them.
