PSG (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

I do trust Pep implicitly but I think he's led us to believe that there would be significant rebuilding this window. There may well be but supporters have been shocked so far this season and rather than patience from us we would prefer action from the club. It may well be this isn't possible, in which case we will have to accept that and be patient.
Everyone is a bit shocked. The club has acted. It’s not as though we haven’t signed anyone. Patience I refer to is to wait until the end of the window.

Your opinion is different to mine....very different ;)
We let the buyback expire for a reason, and Juve can't wait to get rid, again for a reason.
Only way we find out, is if he signs....and I really hope you're right!
I'm assuming he has no injury or age related decline from last year. So projecting his performance from last year to our team, i see no reason why he wouldn't be a good addition.

The marking for what turned out to be the third crucial PSG goal was bizarre. Virtually the full City team within the width of the 18 yard line, I was thinking that doesn’t look very secure. Very similar to what turned out to be the crucial goal when we got beat on away goals at Monaco in Pep’s first season.
It was like a line of Keystone cops all looking in one direction while the audience were shouting "he's behind youuuu" truly comical

They did, however that means nothing, there are plenty of players who have won the title, (but 99% of us, including you) would think that they are average at best.
Maybe the extra CL games are a bigger effect on Villa than 'balance' ?
Best we can do...means we end up with someone getting big wages but not playing, especially if they are no better than what we have? Is he?....my opinion is no, if the club think he is, then fair enough. I think your 'solid & safe' sums up Kovacic perfectly.
What I find strange is Brazil have the Madrid crybaby and Savinho wide (I don't think either are as good as hyped...however...).....and then Paqueta, Bruno, Diaz, and the Atalanta player Ederson? in the middle of the park....the fact Brazil are wank currently, would suggest that at least 3 of those 4, are not particularly good....yet we seem to want all of them?

I don't agree and see Foden in an England shirt for how irrelevant International football can be.

If we were playing football manager Luiz wouldn't be on my list, but he instantly improves us in my opinion and combined with Kovacic would give us more energy in the middle of the park to unlock our attack.

We couldn't get near PSG last night. Luiz would have and has the composure on the ball to retain possession. He would be a very good signing this month.

a win is enough vs Brugge and will make sure we are 23rd or best as we automatically push Brugge behind us on GD. there will be others too imo who wont win currently on 10/ and 11 points meaning we can go to something like 19 to 23rd.

lets be honest if we cannot beat Brugge at home to save our life in CL, well we have nothing to do in later stages and swallow the shame and 40/50m pouds prize money loss plus some more on less matchday income for more home games etc.

Pep cannot underestimate Brugge after our horseshit results and need to work out a winning tactics. we will be asked lot of tactical questions in next few weeks, our answer need to be different than what it was is last 6 months.

Would you say that last night could have secured his (Luiz) signing?
Pep must have watched that shite last night and finally got it that it can't continue?

All opinions, and as I said, only one way we're going to know for sure!

Quite depressing last night but a case for the defence. We are lacking key players at the back and rushing them back to early. Ake, Dias and Stones always seem to be injured and we are constantly having to change the defence. One or both of the two new defenders are likely to start on Saturday. Rodri is also injured and we are hugely reliant on him keeping the ball. Kova had a mare last night ,constantly giving the ball away. We need an option at defensive midfield ,whether that is Douglas Luis we will see.
They were also very good and would have possibly beat us under normal circumstances. I disagree with the criticism of Kev because he and we are still creating chances. Confidence is the biggest problem but providing the new players can make an impact , this should return.

On the flip side though more games means they have more chance to bed in on the pitch and give them game time.

We’re not winning the CL this season even if we qualify, you wouldn’t want to risk the FA cup as it’s more winnable this season than the CL and with how precarious top 4 is you wouldn’t want to take any risks there.

So possibly the extra 2 games would allow us to give the new guys minutes and maybe try a different setup.
True. Just looking for silver linings here. It’s too easy to be a negative Nancy

The issue is, when a player of Nunes' quality becomes your best option even in an emergency situation, you know City's squad is in a poor condition.

In the cold light of day, last night's performance was shocking. I'm struggling to recall the last time we put in the effort typified by PSG.

Paris did to us, what we did to Real in the CL semis in our treble winning season. What we're witnessing now has been slowly coming.
Agree with most of what you said although what we did to Madrid was 2 good teams facing off. Last night was and average team that works hard doing over a below average team. We made them look better than they are. It was similar to what Villa did to us this year. We'll be ok.
