PSG

Hi from a PSG fan who has sympathized with City, since both our clubs share some hate from all over europe.

PSG is a young club (1970), we were already hated in France before we got QSI as owner, and we are even more now with them.
I read your forum since some time and wanted to add some things to my club.

The project of the club is quite clear I think (compete to win the CL in few years), and even us supporters are surprised with the squad we'll get next season. We really thought it would be a bit slower. But we are more than happy, it's just awesome to see those names in our club while 3 years ago we were total garbage.

Anyway, QSI want the world talk of the Paris SG and the Ligue 1, and I think they're doing well actually.

They are also owner of the tv channel that bought the right of the Ligue 1 broadcast and they want a ligue 1 more competitive. Sign Ibrahimovic, T.Silva is not only to make PSG strong, but also to attract worldwide media to have some interest on the ligue 1.

I think next season we will blow up our championship (well I hope with our squad), but some teams in France will get more attractive thanks to us. (but they don't realize it actually)

Lille OSC will be the first to become more and more interesting. They have a brand new stadium (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.grandstade-lillemetropole.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.grandstade-lillemetropole.com/</a>), they build a strong organization and they may have lost Eden Hazard but they sign good prospect (Marvin Martin, S.Kalou for example), and they surely will get more in the next seasons.

Lyon is actually a little broke, but it's because they also build a new Stadium and they will come back stronger in few years.

Monaco actually in Ligue 2, has now a billionar russian owner and might come back very strong, very fast, to compete with PSG.

The Ligue 1 will become more and more competitive and may sell way better in the world in the future.

On PSG side, we will get new training installation, and they are working about what to do with our stadium (always complicated in france). QSI first said they wanted to destroy and rebuild an ultra modern "Parc des Princes" but they are struggling with Paris town.
They might end up building a new stadium on another place but we don't really know yet and we will play in our Parc des Princes until the 2016 EURO in France. We also might move to the Stade de France when there will be works on the stadium.

About the Financial FP, I really don't know how we'll handle in the next years this but our owners definitly know what they are doing and I'm not worried. The town of Paris already has a powerful impact by itself, PSG merchandizing should improve by an abyssal step in the time.

About football itself now, even if it's not official yet, Ibra and Verratti should sign very soon. And we're talking about Modric still even if it appears a bit crazy and he's set up to join Real Madrid.

Balzaretti still on our book and he wants to come to Paris. Problem is may be Leonardo was upset he did not sign last winter lol.

Also talking about Leandro Damiao.

I see you talked about Sakho, Ancelotti don't want to sell him and he said even if he wants to leave, he won't.
Anyway he has to understand what it is to compete with other players to have a place on the team and he might improve a lot with T.Silva and Alex. As a PSG fan, i'm really pissed at Sakho's attitude. He may have really good potential but he's really far from being a top player right now.

Here we go !

I was really happy you won the Premier League, and I now hope both City and PSG will do well this season in our country and in the CL.
Make all the haters more hating because they are just jealous of our new power, and are upset to lose their historical superiority.
If QSI or Abu Dhabi would have invested in they club, they would just be the happiest fans in the world, like we are :D

I hope we won't be in the same group in CL, but if it's the case, City will be welcome to the "Parcs des Princes", even if we promised you some hot atmosphere :)

Good luck for the season, it seems like you were able to sign top level players quicker than we were, for the first two years after our takeover we couldn't really attract players on the level of Ibra and Thiago Silva, I guess it's the difference between the appeal of Paris as a location for millionaires to live in, and Manchester.

It will certainly be interesting what happens for the CL group draw, even if we don't draw PSG, I believe we could still end up in group with Real Madrid, Juventus and Dortmund! Of course opinion will be divided whether that's great or terrible luck.

I'd like us to beat you to Balzaretti if Kolarov insists on leaving, he looked a fantastic full-back at the Euros, but I don't think he's even on our radar so you should have a clear run there.

Hi! I hope you enjoy the excitement of looking up transfer news every 10 minutes during the whole summer :D Thats what I was like for a while. I think you will be a force in Europe this year.

What do you think is your strongest line up right now? How far do you think you will go in the CL this year?

What would you think of a group of Real Madrid, City, PSG and Malaga/Dortmund?

Are more Parisians getting intersted in football now or is it like one of those cities where a lot of the people who live there arent actually from Paris and support the teams from where they are from?

Well, with those new ambitions it's clear the fan base is growing a bit in Paris and some people who would have never go to the parc, will go now.
But a lot of people living in paris actually hates PSG. Anyway, it's PSG history, either you love them, either you hate them. :D

About our best lineup, that's depends Ancelotti moods.

In my opinion actually it's : (I consider Zlatan as part of the squad :P)

----------------------SIRIGU----------------------
-----------JALLET-ALEX-T.SILVA-MAXWELL----
----------------------MOTTA----------------------
-----------PASTORE------------SISSOKO-------
------------------LAVEZZI-MENEZ-------------

or

----------------------SIRIGU----------------------
-----------JALLET-ALEX-T.SILVA-MAXWELL----
----------------------MOTTA----------------------
----MATUIDI/(VERRATI?)------------SISSOKO-------
------------------LAVEZZI-PASTORE-------------
--------------------IBRAHIMOVIC--------------------

We still lack a good midifielder like Modric is, and our sidebacks are not top players, even if they are good. Jallet may be unknown for you but it was our best player last season and fans like his fighting spirit. Ancelotti seems to like him as well. I don't know if we will sign Balzaretti, but Maxwell is Zlatan buddy, and we don't want any problems with Zlatan :D

In CL, I really think it depends of the group draw since we will be 3rd or 4th hat... But with an average group, first knock out round is really a must go, and quarter finals seems already a nice target.

With a Real / City / PSG / Dortmund group, the goal of winning the europa league would be a good deal in my opinion. :D
To be realist, we can may be win a one time match against your team or Real, but Real and City are still stronger and more experimented than our team. Dortmund is really good as well but very young. It would be tough but a hell of good matches to see :P

Anyway I hope it doesn't happen ! And I think some top teams will be kinda annoyed to see PSG in their group more than we are.

Heres some coeff :
Hat 1
Barcelona (Spain) 157,837
Manchester United (England) 141,882
Chelsea (England) 135,882
Bayern München (Germany) 133,037
Real Madrid (Spain) 121,837
Arsenal (England) 113,882
Porto (Portugal) 98,069
Milan (Italia) 89,996

hat 2
Valencia (Spain) 89,837
Benfica (Portugal) 87,069
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ucrânia) 84,026
Zenit (Russia) 79,066
Schalke 04 (Germany) 78,037
Manchester City (England) 63,882

hat 2 or 3
Olympiacos (Greece) 61,420
Ajax (Holland) 58,103

hat 3
Juventus (Italia) 46,996

hat 3 ou 4
Paris Saint-Germain (France) 45,835
Galatasaray (Turkey) 38,615
Borussia Dortmund (Germany) 31,037

hat 4
Montpellier (France) 11,835

Nothing done in 3th and 4th hat but beside Manchester City, hat 2 doesn't look too frightened for PSG even if it's still quality squads. Arsenal, Milan, Porto won't be very happy to see us in their group in 1st hat, especially Milan AC :P
But first, lets see how our team will play with our new players !
Then we will start to dream eventually.

3 spelling mistakes. Your English is shit.

And hopefully you don't hear my accent :P

Welcome Abukar, that's some first team to have but it may take a while before you are challenging in the CL. You are fortunate to have a top manager at the start of the project as we were unfortunately stuck with halfwit hughes. Good luck!

Yep, welcome to Abukar. I find it ironic that we played PSG during the final UEFA Cup season in 2008/2009, and that we could potentially play each other in the Champions League this coming season as two of the most envied clubs in World Football at the moment with the future belonging to both clubs.

Good luck to them.

PSG might outspend but will never outperform City
PSG may be the summer's big spenders but the French league isn't strong enough to make them European giants

By Andy Mitten 9 hours ago

As Paris Saint-Germain look to buy success in the transfer window, Andy Mitten explains why they'll never be better than Manchester City.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic celebrates for Sweden - PANo team spent more money on players last summer than Paris St Germain. Thanks to the new ownership by the Qatari Investment Authority, PSG’s spending has been able to top even Manchester City’s. Coached by Carlo Ancellotti for most of last season,

PSG boasted a glittering front three comprising of Europe’s most expensive signing last term, Argentinian midfielder Javier Pastore, the excellent Brazilian Nene, plus French international Jeremy Menez.

They were hot title favourites, yet they didn’t win the league. Montpellier triumphed - a team who spent almost nothing and whose playing budget of €36 million-a-year is below average in Ligue 1. And so, the French top flight remained Europe’s most fascinatingly unpredictable division.

Rivals questioned PSG’s big time status. But when PSG were linked to Carlos Tevez in January but instead signed 30-year-old full-back Maxwell from Barcelona, Montpellier’s outspoken president cheekily asked: “Maxwell, isn’t that a coffee?”

A city as big and exalted as Paris should have a team to compete with the best in the world.

PSG will blow away any such doubts this summer. They have already splashed out €42 million on Brazilian defender Thiago Silva and are favourites to sign former Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in what would be another big money move.

The Parisians, who are in the Champions League after finishing second, will have a superb squad, but I’m not sure the investment will actually pay off.

Like City and Malaga in Spain, PSG were far cheaper to buy than a Manchester United or an Arsenal, yet the purchase was strange.

A city as big and exalted as Paris should have a team to compete with the best in the world. The location helps attract players, yet Ligue 1 is not the Premier League or the Primera Liga. No French club can ever complete with English elite

Their options for growth are limited and PSG already fill their ageing Parc des Princes home with a capacity of 47,00. Unless, that is, they move to the 80,000 capacity national stadium Stade de France which would be rightly unpopular.

Ligue 1 is not a league which acts as launch pad for success like other stronger leagues.

It may be competitive, but Ligue 1 is the fifth biggest league by revenue in Europe and the international appeal lags well behind England, Spain, Germany and Italy. And while TV revenues have boomed in England, the latest domestic Ligue 1 deal saw a decrease with four of the five packages not reaching the anticipated prices.

Average French crowds dropped last season to 18,869 - down 3,000 on the figures five years ago - while the transfer market remains depressed and, apart from the activity at PSG, the best players continue to leave.

On the field, only one French team has ever won the European Cup (Marseille in 1993). It’s not a league which acts as launch pad for success like other stronger leagues.

PSG are bucking the trend of the best players going to England or Spain, but it's not sustainable, it's just an artificial folly.

Manchester City’s rise has cost hundreds of millions, yet they have a plan. As well as investing heavily into the depressed community of East Manchester to justify their flashing of Sheik Mansour’s billions, they are in a league of burgeoning revenues.

They’ll ride off the back of that, expand the stadium and then they hope to comply by the time UEFA’s financial fair play rules kick in fully in 2018.

PSG? At the moment it seems like a showcase for the Qatari Investment Authority who don’t care how much they spend as they go in search of a substantial trophy haul they’ve so far failed to achieve. Financial Fair Play? They might be the biggest test to see if it’s just all talk.
