Public sector pay rise

That’s bollocks.

Councils across England operate traded services to other local authorities, companies, third sector and the public and generate profits within their department.

It just isn't extracted as a profit at the end.

It’s non-profit by the way.
He's an utter moron. It's a complete waste of time and energy arguing with him.

I hope you aren’t seriously trying to suggest public services actually make a profit - ie return more to the treasury than they extract? That would be bollocks.

Can you read it properly mate?

"generate profits within their department."

Others seem to have understood it, unlike Halfwit you aren't an idiot so there's no need to construct a strawman.

I read it both ways so pardon the post. Yes, you are correct, some departments make profit even if it’s moving money around the system but better for tax payer than moving that money to the private sector.

It’s not just moving money round the system if they sell their services to the public, companies or charities though is it?

I was going to cite the example of the adult residential education/wedding venue my council runs but they usually make an annual 400k loss.

:(

I'm sure if I'd find some examples in other councils if I cared enough to do some serious research though.

Councils don't make profits they make a surplus. They can set up SPVs etc that they own which can make profits.

As a private sector employee taxed at 45 % and only able to contribute £4k into my pension I will never ever be able to retire on anything like comparable pension. Not even close to the diversity managers in the NHS that I pay for.
That doesn’t make much sense. Why are you only able to contribute £4k when the annual allowance is £40k? Do you pay for your own NHS diversity managers? Very odd.

Do you struggle to live off 89k take home as well?
