Public sector pay rise

You quote a copper, they can retire from 55 and draw their pension, normal retirement for them is age 60, in the private sector it’s 66.
Yes and they also pay in around 12% a month into that pension scheme, how much do private sector pay? And you can retire at any age if you save for it. I currently pay nearly 15% a month and I can retire at 53 because of that, I’ve done without for years to be able to do that.

The lack of pay rises in the Public Sector is just another reflection on the society we live in and the values of the current political party in power.

For years now, and repeated on here, the same excuses have been used to argue against pay increases in line with inflation (not pay increases), citing the poor economic outlook. As this has been the argument since 2010, you wonder why those voting Tory don’t question how good the Torys are doing if public services are still being stripped and underfunded after 12 years of their governance. Alternatively if they think there is no money, how prior to every election billions are offered in bribes to attract voters or now, during the leadership debate, the candidates like Truss can offer a 30bn tax reduction. When will people stop being so gullible?

One thing you have to give them credit for is how they have weopanised a large proportion of the electorate to punch downwards and sidewards.

Rather than look at how the super rich and the elite have cut up the countries wealth for themselves they are more likely to spit vitriol at unions, fighting to maintain their members wage.

Public sector wages is just another example. In a lot of instance these are the people we turn to if our house is on fire, if were in fear of, or a victim of crime, who look after our elderly parents in care homes, teach our children to learn, make sure the food we eat, or the buildings we frequent are safe.

Incredibly a whole proportion of the electorate think its fair enough these workers suffer a drop in wages, but don’t have the wherewithal to see its another attack on their own quality of life as the services we all use, every day are being underfunded and talented staff are leaving these sectors to maintain their quality of life.

Like I say credit to this government for getting people to rally against their own interests and those similarly struggling, instead of challenging the elite who carry on getting richer.

Yep when everyone had a problem they don’t turn to a fucking banker they turn to a social worker, who has probably left their job after been under paid and over worked and under appreciated for years, then it’s the social workers fault! I don’t know how much more public services can be cut, if they for example said you must lose job in the fire service to pay for a rise then we will never ever get a rise again. We are riding 4s now when we should be riding 5 on an appliance, it’s criminal and sooner it later that is going to result in something everyone will regret, it doesn’t matter how much technology advanced you still need people to do the dirty stuff and paying people appropriately is all they ask. Fuck these politicians and their rhetoric and that’s on both sides.

Anyhoo...

I found out something interesting today. In around 6 weeks, MFT NHS are going live with a computer system called 'Hive!' (this is known with IT involved staff). I didn't know that this system would make secretaries defunct and with no job in the future.

I hadn't really taken notice of 'Hive!' a year ago, but today I found it cost... £200M across 6 MFT hospitals (Central, Wythenshawe, Withington, Salford, Trafford, Altrincham) for a new IT system.

£200M for a system already causing chaos across the trusts, as far as I know, delivering training problems with people none-the-wiser after being trained as how to progress with this system and that's BEFORE it has its 'teething problems' when it goes live!

It's going to be interesting in the next few months as MFT are stuck with this IT system now!

Sadly I think we will find out over the next couple of years as I only see the situation in public service getting worse.

Lots of talented people leaving, less funding, particularly in preventative work. Everyones quality of life will be that bit poorer.

Just watching Tim Montgomrie on the Paper review on SKY - pedalling the Tory selective memory that we pumped billions into rail during the pandemic and so the Tories are right to suggest banning public sector strikes......omits to point out that during the pandemic the Govt requested a certain level of service that must be maintained and given the lack of passengers due to Govt imposed lockdown the Govt had to keep them running with money that - £500m of which - was taken as profits and bonuses - maybe Tim didn't read the umpteen articles confirming this

They’ve cut it to the bone and this period has exposed the policies for what they are.

I heard statement that really drives home, that the super rich made a growth of 271% during the pandemic, on their millions and billions.

Nothing more to add.

Exactly. They've been in power for 12 years. So either they are doing a good job with the economy and can offer a public sector pay rise that compensates for all of the years when the public sector were asked to tighten their belt to "get the economy back on track," or they can't afford it because they've done such a shoddy job over the past 12 years that they've completely fucked the economy and ran out of money.

It was 1 % we got per year for 8 years 2010-2018,then i got my biggest rise in 10 years, only to lose it all when i along with tens of thousands went into the next higher bracket for our nhs pension, roughly given a £30 per month rise only to have to pay £32 more to the pension scheme.
This 4.5% we're getting now,the nhs pension scheme changes this coming october and i will be paying an extra 0.6% and it changes again next year ( no date given yet ) ,i will then be paying an extra 1.2% difference from april 1st 2022
so even this latest pay rise is being eaten into already,
