Public sector pay rise

I have been explaining this to halfpist but he doesn't want to listen (though it was £1.50 for each £ extra in wages I read, though that was a number of years ago)
You see you cannot help yourself
Ps you can’t even spell pissed.

Can anyone please tell me of any Economist, politician from any Party or finance experts (other than on here) who is suggesting that workers should receive double digit pay rises.

Interesting economic theory.
Debt is debt. Issuing new debt to pay off old debt will not make the situation any better.
Also the debt has to be serviced.
The Government is having to pay massive interest costs from current income at the moment, without additional borrowing.
I have never heard of the multiplier effect that £1 becomes £1.7 in the public sector, that’s a new one on me.
If the Government borrows to finance current wages of course it will be inflationary.
There is also a danger of an increase in imports if U.K. cannot satisfy additional demand and the resulting effect that has on the pound.
It's not "debt". QE involves the Treasury buying its own debt from banks and other institutions. You're issuing your own currency.

And the Multiplier Effect is a long-established part of economic theory. Google it.

What I don’t understand with the current economy is why interest rates are rising due to the current hike in inflation.
If the hike in inflation was caused by excessive demand I get it however is it not caused by a shortage of products ?
Families will cut back due to lack of disposable income and the possibility of a recession ?

They could afford to give the NHS staff a payrise if they stopped the NHS from pissing money up the wall.

I've got 14 years service in, and the money I see wasted on a daily basis is absolutely sickening.

£400 taxi journeys, £millions wasted on a system that's being ripped out after less that 12 months. Having to get trades in on agency because the pay is so shit for the in house ones in comparison they can't recruit, but then paying the agency staff who know fuck all about the hospital/layout £5-10ph more than your own lads.

For the first time in my 14 year career in the NHS, I'm looking at getting out. I can't take it anymore. It's not just the pay though but that's another argument....

Don't ever let anybody tell you the NHS is under funded, far from it!

Just underline this, a couple of years ago I was speaking to a Sodexo handyman who was fixing some cupboards and, for some reason, I asked how much he charges for the job. No idea why, but I did and the answer shocked the hell out of me!

He told me the absolute maximum he would have charged would have been a couple of hundred quid, but because the NHS fired all its inhouse staff, who were rehired under Sodexo, they get to charge up to a grand for the same job!

Sodexo is one of the biggest drains on the Northwest NHS because they were allowed to input funds as a private entity and have massive profits as a result. They started out as a catering outlet in the NHS, ffs and now in Manchester, at least, all low level staff (porters, cleaners, handymen/ women) are Sodexo staff who are on relatively low pay whilst charging the NHS an arm and a leg for their essential services!

It, truly, is scandalous!

The fault of New Labour. PFI etc is destroying the NHS.

We wanted a simple wood fence put up. It was made with what looked like broken up pallets and not treated for weather and they were charging hundreds. Could have probably done it myself for about £50.

Absolutely right. The legacy of PFI is crippling. I was in hospital must have been a few years back and was eating the normal piss poor hospital sandwich of 2 pieces of bread with one piece of limp ham in-between. I asked one of the ward sisters about costs and she said the NHS pay £4 per sandwich to Sodexo!! When you consider the bulk the NHS buy then that unit price is a scandal. Its more than you pay for a nice M&S butties. Must waste so juch money

Nope sorry, don’t know if a) it exists b) how to quantify it and c)how to legally get their hands on it to pay this years pay rises.
Any Company accused of tax evasion is likely to fight it through the Courts starting with the Country its held in
It would go on for years.
You know full well that’s not what is meant, you’re just being purposefully obstreperous. They are contracts from which said companies make a profit! Keep in house and use the money to fund properly. No profit, reinvestment where it’s needed.

Well said. It's far from under funded, the waste is extraordinary. As for pay......don't get me started

When Blair introduced PFI I left the party after 35 years membership, there was a move for conference to fully debate this gross error. It wasn’t added to the list. That started the slow death of the NHS. It’s now speeded up and will be gone unless drastic action is taken
