Of all the interesting places to drink in town those two places are about as appealing as Wetherspoons.

Used to see the late Alex Higgens in the Grey Horse sometimes great company sometimes best avoided .Hey, leave us old men alone ! Grey Horse is a great pub, as is the Circus.

Went in there a few times pre covid and it always struck me as doomed to fail.
Was a big place and always empty.
Around tee time.when did the golf bar shut down?

I often end up in the Hare and Hounds after warming up in the Lower Turk's Head (virtually next door). They are both packed with Blues before and after matches. We took a bunch of Hoffenheim fans in the Turk's Head which had a live Northern Soul Band on (unusual for midweek). They got so pissed they missed their much vaunted: "march to the ground." 7 Brothers is a great bar , no problem with wearing colours and allow kids in , unlike Cask . Went in Cask after a 12-30 ko with a mates 13 yr old lad and they said we had to leave . We went to 7 Bros and and was made very welcome .
