Punk and New Wave thread.

Sheffield band playing at the Legendary venue Retford Porterhouse
Very underground electric/futurist scene type band
Their best track Lucifers Friend is at the end of the set, classic keyboard playing by Andy Beaumont ,The 12" single was worth about a tenner, which was a lot ,back in the day
The first track sung here is Pagan Ritual, the b side of Lucifers Friend....not a very good song I I don't think
But Vision were pushing boundaries in 1981,just come across this footage, which for us electronic new wave fans,...is Golden.

Punk’s not dead: Sex Pistols and Damned mark golden jubilee
It’s 50 years since a gig at the 100 Club unleashed punk on London and the world. The Sex Pistols’ Paul Cook and the Damned’s Dave Vanian reflect on its legacy

The Meteors - the punkabilly /psychobilly band from the 80's are playing my local town in Vermont in April. Can't wait.
Isn't there only Paul Fenech left from the Wreckin' Crew era? Whilst I still think that album and In Heaven are excellent, I thought further efforts were not very good.

Billy Connolly introduced the band but he was factually incorrect. They were formed in South Shields and were all 'mackem' Sunderland fans, Mensi certainly was. RIP

One if the very few original punk bands that kept true to their roots and not try to seek fame and fortune unlike the pathetic Pistols post punk ensemble who just reformed to chase some coin.

Glad to say i saw Upstarts several times when they were raw, full of energy and angst around those dark thatcher days, the horrid child milk stealing bitch.

This lesser known song is about the working class toil of an average coal miner who didn't need a gym, just a hard days graft and a few well earned pints.

@PinkFinal don't let the pit props fall in on your seam, mate. Stay strong brother: )

Booked 3 Damned tickets for 2 mates and me. The Damned at Wembley OVA stadium on 11th April. Train tickets also sorted. I just need to work out where i fancy staying. Not sure yet, somewhere with decent pubs and eateries within a few miles of Wembers. Gonna bee a good un methinks, my favourite line- up too.

Long time lurker here. I came across this thread with interest and though would throw this out there

Always found it a bit strange that Iggy pop is deemed the Godfather of Punk.. when Andy Ellison was surely around first
