This isn't one of their most well known but it's one of my favourites
Everybody’s happy nowadays is my favourite. Love it. Ever fallen in love is great though, it’s a classic.Of course, you’re never going to get two people to agree on this sort of thing. For me, Ever Fallen in Love is *far* from their best song and Everybody’s Happy Nowadays and Fiction Romance are major omissions.
Blitz were a 2nd gen punk/oi band from New Mills Derbyshire forming in 1980. They weren't a big band and pretty much stayed under the radar but I'd be amazed if Greenday and The Offspring weren't influenced by Blitz. I saw them at least twice in the very early 80s and they were a decent outfit back in the day.

Seen all of those bands and they were part of my youth. Each to their own as they say: )Never got into the 2nd generation bands, other than Vice Squad.
Chron Gen / Discharge / Exploited etc was too much cartoon punk, studded jackets and lyrics you couldn't decipher due to the singer just blaring out a noise.
I think I had an EP with 4 bands with a song each one of which was Blitz. I think The Business were on it too.
One of them had a song called Guatemala. May even have been a free EP in one of the weeklies as I couldn't see me buying it
Without looking too deep into it I see that one of the greatest punk songs ever written comes in at #99View attachment 17045

Anti Pasti were a blast from the past, saw them at the Poly iirc. Surprised No Government was voted 3rd best track, thought they were a mediocre band tbh.View attachment 17045

My views on that Top 100:-I’m no expert on punk, but I honestly didn’t realise Stiff Little Fingers were classed as a punk band. It’s obvious from that list that The Stranglers weren’t - or rather they are but should be higher.
I’d expect Sham 69 if the kids are united to be a top 10 track too.

I culled it off social media, but reading the top it’s a survey of readers to Sounds music paper - if you’re outside the UK or not of a certain age that won’t mean much, but it was one of 3 nationally recognised weekly music newspapers basically.Who compiled this?
