Punk and New Wave thread.

May be shit to you but The Damned are a very underrated punk band and original from 76 and still playing nowadays. First UK punk band to release a single (New Rose) and and album (Damned Damned Damned) before Malcolm McLaren manufactured the Sex Pistols hit the scene after the infamous and contrived Bill Grundy rant by Rotten and co.

Punk rock fooled no one but the press. Maybe you believed the hype of punks spitting on and beating up grannies in The Scum and The Fail ?

Punk bands inspired many other bands to form and evolve new genres from punk.

This track is over 44 years old and arguably the best punk track ever. Still sounds great, to me at least: )

Brilliant track, even better riffs..

Sure it will have been posted many times already but heard a young Canarian busker playing a bilingual version of this today and was so impressed that I had to stop and listen, and drop him €5. Chatted to him afterwards and apparently it’s a massive cult song among disaffected young people in Spain

Great song. I had a lifesize cardboard cut out of that pic in my room as a kid. Got it from Robinsons records when they were swapping out the displays.

Saw them at the Mayflower club before they got a recording contract. Stuff like Helter skelter, Carcass, Make up to break up was mind blowing live to a 13/14 year old kid.
Absolutely mate. You saw live punk bands before I did. Just as well really you emigrating to Canada. Crass were my first gig, at The Mayflower iirc. Either them or UK Subs. My mind is hazy. Have you seen any early bands over there?
