Punk and New Wave thread.

punk started in 75, and was finished by the end of 76. most people do not have a clue what punk was all about. anyone who thinks the stranglers were punk does not understand the whole idea. it turned rather rapidly into a commercial enterprise, for the sheep to follow, you know, the type that watched top of the pops !

So the Dead Kennedys, for example, were 'commercial' and/or not 'punk'?

I find it odd that some people have to be so definitive about what represents a type(s) of music.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Wythenshawe's finest yet.

1: Cranked up really high

One of my favourite ever tunes.
Nice one Bacon, some cracking tracks there.
I don't know whether to click on Sonic Reducer or Dayglo first. Hmm decisions

Getting all nostalgic now.
I remember going to Buffalo New York with my art class back in the late 70's and sneaking off to a little record shop where I found a copy of Complete control.
It was the one record that I didn't have and it was rare as fuck as it was only available as a promo at the time. $7.00 later and I was a happy lad.
Ended up giving it to mate Rourkey when he came over to visit.

Nice one mate. I knew you liked punk being a similar age but I doff my cap, you know your punk. Keep 'em comin'.

I remember back in the 70's, the Stranglers stayed in a little cabin in Bearshank woods in Northants. We'd ride out there on bikes, we met the band, they wouldn't let us hang out as we were just punk kids but they were pretty friendly
