Punk and New Wave thread.

Remember seeing Buzzcocks at Alexander Park for the Rock against Racism march in Manchester , I’d be about 14/15 then going to see them at Manchester Poly supported by the Two Tone Pinks who got bottled off .

First gig was either the Jam at the Electric Circus or the Damned (supported by the Adverts) at Middleton Civic Hall.

Nothing against the Jam but I never really took to them. Much preferred the latter concert.

The best band I ever saw from around that period was the Cramps when Bryan Gregory was still alive. It was a couple of years later and they were superb.

Mine was The Clash, The Specials and Suicide
Manchester Apollo July 1978

Extremely violent atmosphere.
Yes I think I saw them twice at the Apollo. It was always a riot. RIP Joe. Gone well too soon.

Some great Kevin Cummins pics here:

I saw the Cramps supporting the Police at the Free Trade Hall in 1979 , the Cramps were excellent

Stranglers tribute at Lions Den later this month
Also Marky Ramone at Gorilla
And Clash tribute at the Band on the Wall
Saw the Clash tribute band (London Calling) at Band on the Wall last year - they were fantastic.
Got my ticket, and also for a Specials tribute band on at Band on the Wall the night before
