What I dont get is, why give it to a country that will build stadiums with roofs at stupid costs. These will be indoors of course with airconditioning to help keep players and fans cool, then... After the games, they will knock the lot down! Madness, no lasting legacy or any benefit to the country or the world of football. And who is going to sit in 50 degree heat without the possibility of a nice cold beer?

not a chance they are going to get carbon neutral AC......the cost of providing power to the AC units to get a 20+ degree C internal temperature reduction will be vast....the only way they can get carbon neutral AC is via borehole technology and you dont get many boreholes under the desert

That's why England made a specific point in their bid about multi-culturalism, considering whom it was up against in Russia and in some respect Spain/Portugal. But it did not work, instead Fifa chose those two bids with the worst record especially against Jewish people.
Did you know that the reason many Jewish families were in Germany at the time of Nazi occupation was because they were forced out of Russia in a Russification campaign around 20 years earlier. Even today the Jewish people where I am still get constant abuse from Russians, its completely sick.
All Fifa have done today is disgrace football.
