Quad not treble

So, bar the trophy, it’s exactly the same as a normal prem or cup game? A trophy is the end result of winning a competition for me. And One single game ISNT a competition. Therefore it’s not a trophy I’ll be counting.
The competition is an extension of the League and the FA Cup. Which are not easy to win.

You could argue that it is a final between two teams who in theory have won other competitions to qualify although if we win FA Cup and league this season we will play Liverpool who finished second.

Without us having been in it I wouldn't even count a world club championship against the south American champions as a worthwhile trophy either. Proper trophies are won by beating a number of teams.

You have to win things to have the opportunity to compete in it.It's a trophy but by far the least important one.

it is the culmination of one team winning over 38 games, and 1 team winning over a minimum of 8 games to face one another for the play off trophy. you have to proceed through a long and vigorous qualifying campaign to play in this competition, they dont just have to collect the most tokens in cornflake packets to get in it!!!
its actually the most exclusive trophy available. whether you appreciate that is up to you, but them's the criteria.

I think the community shield will be a pretty fierce contest next year, first chance to try and assert ourselves as better than Liverpool again.
Watford surely?

League Champions v Cup Runners Up?

The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup then the league runners-up provide the opposition

Would you refuse the European super cup then ?

I’m not refusing anything. I’m just saying it’s not a trophy. And yes, I wouldn’t consider the European super cup a trophy either. That’s also a glorified friendly.

As someone said above. If we win the prem and the fa cup we play a team who hasn’t won anything... so that’s where your argument falls down. The prem and fa cup are prestigious competitions where you win a trophy at the end of it. The charity shield is a one off game to kick off the start of next season... that’s it, in my eyes. You feel different, fair enough.
