The 1st was an example

The 2nd was stating my non support of it!

Hardly an obsession!

Ok. But why think like that. And being a druggie and shoplifting??

I was just saying itd be great in a security aspect but I wouldn't want it to be a tool to stop her growing up, and messing up( at least for me) is part if that .

And I was just saying it is strange for a dad of a 3 year old thinking about drugs theft and handjobs.

If it is fine to chip the children, it must be fine to chip their parents. Orwell would be proud.

I think the op was talking about infants who can't look after themselves or even act in any dangerous situation. Chipping teenagers isn't behind the question I dont think.

CHIP EVERY BASTARD

No I would not have my children chipped. I have a 9 yr old a 2yr old. My mrs was a control freak to her first child.....who cannot ride a bike and has never climbed a tree and is now 16yrs living upstairs in a Facebook, Call of Duty wonderland.

I will move out and pay whatever a month rent on another home for myself than pay for £30.00 worth of pizza & mcain oven chips a week come May and his Mother decides to let him study an OLOGY.

I felt like Maureen Lipman in that BT advert when she told me of his intentions.

Just the 1st 3 "typical" things I thought of . I understand how it looks and probably should have just put "wouldn't want it to negatively impact her social life"

Rethinking this whole chip thing now.

In my day we were happy with a dry hump

Just as the death penalty doesn't act as a deterrent to murder in the states, chipping wouldn't prevent abductions.

As many have already commented, criminals will find a way around them. More pertinently, however, its because people who commit these horrible acts are fuckin loonies.

It's also been mentioned that we chip our pets, why not our kids. Well my kids aren't going to fuck off at thirty mph after a horse and not know how to find their way home.

You have a massively higher chance of finding them quick with a chip.

I'm willing to bet these snatches are an urge or something, it grips them ergo they will not be so methodical, 90% of the time it will be half baked probably.

They may find ways to break the chip but until they did i'd stick my kid with said chip every time.

A 9mm sig and a protective dad always helps to :)

Yeah I understand the thinking, but how many call outs would the police get for kids who heir parents think are missing but are actually just playing at a mates. Anyway, lots of mobile phones can be traced these days, so I guess we are not too far off.

The other argument that would inevitably be put forward could be cost. If they are expensive you're bound to get the backlash of: society only cares for rich peoples kids etc.

-- Mon Jan 14, 2013 1:34 am --

Plus if my kids are owt like me, I'm not sure id like to know where they are....

Finally I think it could seriously mess up family relations, its basically telling kids from birth that they aren't trust worthy. Crass example but I had a girlfriend once who didn't trust me from day dot. Always asking me if id cheat etc. It actually made me want to...

Yeah i agree implementing it (false alarms etc) would be hard.

However you could set distances maybe ? If little timmy is going to little marks, and instructed no further and they know that marks house is x distance.
If it's triggered open your google maps plugin and see where they are going.

You could also have a center with active agents monitoring these alarms, x quid a year per kid for monitoring, that would help screen the false alarms.

It is not telling kids that at all, it would say to me they don't trust adults who may have bad intentions.
That's how i see it anyway.

Yeah I do understand, the thought terrifies me, but I don't think I'm father material so probably never will have kids myself.

On your last point, I get it and it has good attentions. For me, however, as a kid, no matter how many times I was told what time to be home and reasons why, I still thought it was cos my parents were just tying to ruin my fun and didn't trust me. I thought I was an adult and that I could do whatever. Obviously this isn't the same, but I think the comparison can draw similar conclusions. I think a chip would just be that but on an enormous scale. That said, it would eventually become normality and the change would be lessened. Like satisfaction adjustment.

However I may not be a great example I'm 27 year old child

Sad thing is, there'll happen a time when you're the last person they think about.

What kids re: parents? Not me mate, I check in on my mum all the time, hate the thought of her living back in manc alone

George Orwell must be getting a chubba in his grave!!! ffs people that is the worst idea on the planet. I've seen schools taking fingerprints of young children (by police) for fun, and yes those prints are put into the system. Let kids grow up as we did
