Question Time

What we do have and this is an oxymoron, the centrists are the extremists. We know what the far left and far right stand for, those who proclaim to stand on the centre ground will stop at nothing to get into power, they stand for nothing apart from the continuation of the status quo and the continuation of the ruinous Neo Liberal economics that has produced so much inequality in our nation. The far right and far left have answers to this issue, whether you agree with them or not.

I'm not sure communism is the answer in the 21st century?

What about soft lefties, comrade?

The way the Overton window has shifted Socialism is now hard left. When you have the likes of Mick Lynch an avowed Socialist asked live on TV if he is a Marxist the world has gone fucking mad. Farage, Mogg et al are never asked if they are Fascists because their stances have become normalised.

The soft left are now on similar ground to the old one Nation Tories. They are not interested in the transformational effects of Socialism, they are capitalists to the core.

You can thank the right wing media machine in the West for that. They have gaslighted all of us.

Spiked. Urgh. All of the above and more. So many connections to lobbying groups like the International Policy Network, Sense About Science, all funded, if you look far enough, through US tobacco, chemical and oil companies and all connected to the Tufton Street Massive. Those good old Living Marxists, Spiked and IPN all did a lot of work in the late 90s on behalf of those companies to promote the ‘science of risk’…

But coming back to the BBC and Question Time, don’t forget they’re a media channel and their reason for being is entertainment, and if that means adding gobby nutters to a programme then so be it. Unfortunately the side effect is that some viewers will believe the gobby nutters. The best explanation is in this old new statesmen article:
