Radamel Falcao Zarate

I'm one of the few whose gutted we didn't get RVP, but that says more about how much Dzeko doesn't suit our style of play more than us needing RVP.

If we had Falcao in our squad instead of Dzeko right now, RVP would never have been mentioned as a possible signing.

Falcao is immense and he's the player we should be breaking the bank for to replace Dzeko. It's time to cut our losses with the big Bosnian and let's complete our forward-line with Falcao.

Aguero + Tevez + Falcao = 1 very unhappy player

Which of them do you think will be volunteering to play in the League Cup?

Add to that injury and loss of form

As another poster pointed out, add to my list, injury, loss of form, & tiredness. We thought we had a huge unmanageable squad last time around. You seem to have forgotten already how we foundered when the Toure's went to the ACN, Tevez went AWOL, Vinny & Aguero got injured, Dzeko was generally shit & Bonkers got banned..... Twice! Our whole season almost got derailed, would you have minded having Falcao then I wonder?

I'm with Mancini on this one fella, give him the selection problem & then let him manage it.... After all, it is his job.

Falcoa is the sort of player we would be breaking the bank for had we lost Tévez. If we lose Džeko we should be looking at young, unknown, up-and-coming players - a bit like United got with Hernandez. Not someone who would start for most teams in Europe but would be aat in our bench.

-- Sat Aug 18, 2012 9:23 am --

Edin was nowhere near being "generally shit". He had a few bad games and was reliable and played well, sometimes excellently, the rest of the time...and didn't moan once about not starting.

Falcao would be cool but Atletico wants almost 40M and Dzeko doesn't want to go to Russia.

It's about opinions and the level of quality you deem as acceptable, I've got no problem with Mancini exercising Darwin's theory of natural selection where Dzeko and Falcao are concerned thus strengthening our squad's gene pool in the process. Irrespective of the troubles we've had with Tevez, no-one has ever doubted his quality, however with Dzeko he's undoubtably an esteemed goal-scorer but IMHO not up to the footballing standard that we're trying to achieve.

If we had Falcao, I wouldn't envisage him being sat on our bench as such, but being rotated with Tevez, Balotelli and Aguero. Over the course of a possible 60 game season at the very least any one of those stikers would be starting 30 games and be a substitute in another 15. If I was in that quartet, you wouldn't catch me complaining about 'only' playing 45 games a season (not including internationals).

Most of the players I recall complaining about the lack of playing time, were players who wern't performing as well as the player/s ahead of them: Clichy-Kolorov, Lescott-Kolo, Nasri - AJ, Aguero - Dzeko. All the players in bold had their chances to stake a claim as the main man for their respective positions, but they all failed to take advantage, so them being on the bench was more about their performances than us being over-loaded with talent.

Edin was nowhere near being "generally shit". He had a few bad games and was reliable and played well, sometimes excellently, the rest of the time...and didn't moan once about not starting.
Questions:
1) Do you think Dzeko's lack of playing time was down to us being overloaded with top-level strikers or because he was generally poor?

2) 'didn't moan once about not starting' - Is this the same Dzeko who threw a strop in Munich, has mentioned recently that he's not prepared to spend another season on the bench and stormed off down the tunnel after the Charity Shield with a face like thunder...... That Dzeko?

Any recent news on this guy?
Would be my ideal strike purchase (if we were to make one), think he would suit our style of play much more than Cavani.
