Who's it aimed at?
A 30something's hen party.
That's the demographic they're aiming for, now.
Something came through on social media the other day, taken from the Daily Fail. Apparently, the DREADFUL Scott Mills has virtually ditched anything from pre 2000, since he took over from Steve Shite. There goes your evidence. It's going the same throughout the day, too. Their (R2) playlist consists of 30 new songs, repeated for 20 hours a day, with a few "oldies" thrown in, for good measure. The BBC must have access to one of the world's largest record libraries, yet whenever certain artists release a song, you're guaranteed to hear them on each show from 0400 to 2200, Monday to Friday. They need to take a leaf from commercial radio stations who give you a "no repeat work day".
As I said on the Ken Bruce thread, he's left most likely, because he's pissed off playing 20odd year old bedwetting lads, "crying that their birds have chucked them", or, nasally/whiny 20odd year old girls who are moody that their new fella is cheating on her with his ex. Listen to that new "song" by Mimi Webb for evidence (red flag).
They've now morphed into the equally dreadful Heart.
R2 has disappeared so far down the plughole in the last decade, it's already reached the sewage farm. When Ken goes, I go.
If I'm working on a Saturday morning, I'll catch half an hour of Tony Blackburn, after that, that's my lot.
