What do people expect they will say about City?

Even the most blinkered Blue at Wembley yesterday couldn't mount a decent defence of that performance.

It was shocking. It might have been a friendly, it might have been "close" but football pundits have to come up with a point of view, and there's nothing easier than a swipe at City viewpoint after a performance like yesterday.

But it's the same for Chelsea... and Arsenal... and if Spurs lose a couple of games, it will be about them as well.

Big investment leads to big expectations leads to big criticism when it doesn't come off.

Would it be preferable when we were all complaining that TV and the radio pretty much totally ignored us when we were mid table? If you want to play with the big boys, that comes with the territory...

...agreed. We have to deliver. Just as we did last season but with higher aims.

But a friendly? Come on. Even manu have had some Charity Shield stinkers. The outpouring over this match has been a tad OTT. I mean in a perverse way I quite enjoy the negative slagging off in the media as its sweet when they have to shut up but all this over one fucking pre season match? Christ Liverpool have spent £100m since January and they got tonked 3-0 in their last 3 friendlies. Only critique I heard was 'should we be worried about Liverpool' to which the answer was 'nah its only pre season friendlies'.

Slapping us around because we played poorly yesterday is not a problem. Treating the match as if it had the importance of a title decider is fucking insane. Goes for on here as well.

You could try ignoring them. Radical, I know. But give it a go, it works for me every time. I don't take the slightest notice, either when they are praising us or slagging us off.
superb balanced view ,we should all take note of this ,

We're big news now, and everyone will have an opinion about us whether we like it or not. We'll just have to get used to it, and ram their words back down their throats.

Some blues would do well to read and digest this.

Thanks. I like to think I'm a well balanced individual; a chip on each shoulder.

I did. Replied as well.

We just need to treat it like water of a ducks back, everyone on here loves City and knows the truth about city regarding team spirit, the players wages, what the club is doing off the pitch for Manchester etc but this doesn't suit the image they have built of the club. Yesterday probably had them rubbing their hands with glee and we have to take that on the chin but as fans we only have to think of the FA Cup and all their bile means nothing. Last season they turned their noses up and claimed with authority that we were not a team and we would achieve nothing. City proved them wrong. Take it all with a pinch of salt and let City prove them wrong again.

Claridge doesn't like us because we're the only team in England he didn't play for. Wank journeyman washed up has-been! Failure as a manager too.
