You have absolutely zero idea what you're talking about.

First of all, Pep will not tell you the same thing. He will fundamentally disagree with you. I would have thought the source of the quote would have helped you grasp that one.

Second of all, you're saying Eric Abidal (aka: "the other chap") didn't improve his technique significantly in the latter stages of his career? Because all the evidence would suggest otherwise.

I admire your confidence for starting off with "give it up", though. Especially when you follow that up with baseless cliches that I presumed were lying dorment somewhere inside Robbie Savage's discarded ponytail.

Time will tell,
And as already can be seen, he has had the same issues from his Liverpool days and they don't seem to improving. In fact the is evidence that he has digressed

We can review this discussion in the future, hopefully there will be evidence of measurable progress. Intuition and experience tells me this is unlikely.

You've posted a video of his best ever season, as I have said previously that was for someone else. People are expecting some exponential improvement in the next 2 or 3 years despite he's had little to no improvement in the past 3 years. What is clear is he has something to offer, namely goals and assists. Those expecting him to influence a game like Messi are pissing in the wind because he just doesn't have the required attributes.
Sorry to butt in but mp stunted his progress,he wasn't allowed to use his speed and had to slow it down and pass it to the LB,not to mention he was on the right for the dippers,he said recently he was set free by pep's tactics and he is doing better than last season

Aye, we'll all have to wait and see. I'm sure we hope for the same thing.

... yes.

Are you saying a player's technique is at the same level when they're twenty-two as it is when they're twelve?

No, I'm saying if there has been the same improvement in the past 10 years that you are expecting in the next 10 years he must have been fucking awful at 12.

People think I have it in for Sterling, I am actually defending the guy because I don't believe that his worst performances are necessarily his fault. It's like Silva being asked to be a target man, if we employed those tactics nobody would blame Silva for being no good at it. Practically everything that Sterling does well for City involves either him getting in behind the opposition defence or 1 v 1 with a full back, if we utilise this more Sterling can look a brilliant player but if we continue to ask him to play like Silva, KDB and Yaya he will continue to flatter and deceive in equal measure.

I think we agree with each other. He needs the freedom to go out on the pitch and do what he does best. Pellegrini was terrible for restricting Sterling and I think there is still some semblance of the MP era in our play. I hope once the Pep era is well and truly implemented Sterling will flourish.

Agreed,i also think the other kids will push him on,they will all improve each other

You were far more relevant in your MEN days.

Ha infamy, infamy...

Its ok to be disagreed with, ninj... I happen to believe that your stance, like a great deal many in terms of a European insight, is dated... There's enough to suggest that this evolution that was mooted doesn't stop on the training field because of how its carried out in a match... Sterling will improve wth reinforcement, hence the persistence of seeing the same 'short passes' that frustrate you.....

To write his touch off or unable to improve to the level you expect, at this stage, is naive...
