He's very poor in the final 3rd, his best time was at the top of their diamond last year but then he had Suarez and a very in form Sturridge ahead of him creating space. I think anything more than 25 million would be paying over the odds and we'd be very disappointed with his contributions.

I've not seen that much of Liverpool this season but have heard he's been a bit average and inconsistent with Coutinho outshining him. Maybe the pressure has been too much this season, he's lost Suarez & Sturridge's movement drawing defenders all over the place and creating space etc.

He still needs to work on his end product, finishing is pretty poor and his passing isn't great either. I recently found out he's not even 21 till December though, years to develop. It seems like his agent may have been wanting more money, possibly because he's one of their best players and young.

He won't come cheap that's for sure, would be lucky to get for £40m imo.

Get Walcott instead ..... Cheaper option, better in front of goal ... plays wide or as striker .... think he would be a good option for us ... there is the worry of his injury record but still think he would be a good fit for us .... Sterling's shortcomings have been highkghted t of late .....

Sterling has many flaws but also many assets. He hasn't had a fantastic season but neither has he been shite. He has been better than most of our attacking options.

Consider that. Because our attacking options have won two titles. The question is, would he be a useful aquisition for City ? The answer to that is most certainly 'yes'. Is he the best player we could possibly sign in that position ? Absolutely not. But he is more advanced than our own kids are currently & is proven in the league & we have to have options which are 'homegrown' whether we like it or not.

We are not going to be the finished article next season, it's not possible. It will take two or three transfer windows to re vamp this squad. Sterling would be effectively filling an otherwise empty space in a squad which is being rebuilt. He's young he's fast he's homegrown. Doesn't matter if he's not Ronaldo two years from now as we don't need him to be. We just need a good player in a homegrown slot asap.

But Liverpool are world champion dickwavers, & like the rags, they exist only to tell everyone how big they are. So a 'small' club like us may find it difficult to prise him out. They may prefer to lose 30 mil on him than let us have him. With their istree and everything.

Walcott is a bit of a sick note though.

Maybe sterling's performance has suffered due to actually not wanting to be there? Must be tension between both him and brenda?

Plus Liverpool are all over the place right now. They've got nothing up front, and that has to affect Sterling's game.

I think your dismissing this a bit to easily, his injury record is very poor bud. I agree he is a good player though we never see him at the top of his game much. He most likely would be a good player for us specifically also but no good when history shows we shall only see him half the season.

Beyond that my first sticking point with a possible sick note is why they are a sick note. Walcott has done his cruciate before and that is not good at all.

He has had 42 injuries in his 8 years at arse, the highest of any arse player so this is a consistent issue with him, not just hard luck.
Good player when he is fit and seemingly a nice lad but nice doesn't win trophies.

I agree sterling was helped a lot by having defenders dragged away from him last season, still a 25m player though..
