Let's not compare the Sterling and Suarez circumstances. Suarez is top 5 in the world. It made sense to keep hold of him as he was so impactful to the team. Sterling is still a kid and has not this season shown anything to suggest he'd be worth chancing for one more season and losing out on 40m.

Suarez was not considered by anyone other than Liverpool supporters one of the top five players in the world before last season. It was last season when other supporters began to start declaring him as possibly the best not named Messi or Ronaldo. Sterling's value would hardly depreciate 40m in one year (regardless of the contract situation).

When we attempted to keep Suarez from Arsenal, we did end up keeping him. We weren't actively looking to sell him to Barcelona, but giving him a new contract with a release clause essentially sealed that deal. Selling to domestic rivals is completely different than selling abroad.

Put your money where your mouth is.

I have done at the bookies.

Your club and Brendon despite his "parenting" of the boy at his own home pmsl know he is gone and the last few weeks have seen you and the press mount a dirty campaign against the lad.

Nothing but the usual bluster going on right now to appease fans like yourself that you are being tough etc yet when it comes to it, you will see a player who doesn't want to be there any more and it will be then painted as a great deal for Liverpool FC.

p.s. you are not our rivals lol, stick with the rags, they are more your level right now!

Still love the fact that people think the club sold/leaked stories to the s*n about him taking those substances. Absolutely hilarious (as well as utterly stupid) that people think the club would have any relations with that "newspaper."

We'll see who's right come September, I suppose!

p.s. I'm not really arsed. Other than Chelsea who are a class apart, the rest of the league is shite.

Your disgrace of a club will do anything to try and claim the moral high ground in any argument and this one is no different.

The truth is you are no longer big players and even your own players can see they have no real chance of success unless they move on, despite Brendon telling the whole world every 5 mins that he is without doubt the greatest coach in world football.

As for us all being shite apart form Chelsea, well 2 league titles out of the last 3, a Carling Cup and FA cup in the cabinet, progress in the CL and lots of lovely money to spend, funnily enough on your little starlet says different ;-)

That's the one. The one who was desperate to leave to Arsenal. We forced him to stay and he ended up having a decent season. Just won player of the year, while scoring/assisting over 40 goals in the process.
So he's at Barcelona now then, you didn't manage to keep him.He also plays champions league now !

That wasn't my point. My point was that it is perfectly possible for a player who wants out to have a fantastic season when forced to stay. Alonso is another example for us in 2008/2009. Gerrard when he wanted to move to Chelsea is another.
Odd how all these anfield legends wanted out is it not??

Not really. Chelsea have been more successful for the past decade, Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world and the player was Spanish, and Suarez has always wanted to play for Barcelona. Couple that with making the player feel unimportant (Gerrard), attempting to force the player out previously (Alonso), and having family in the city (Suarez) and it makes perfect sense why they would have wanted to leave in each of those scenarios.

In what way are we trying to claim the moral high ground?

I'm not bothered about what you have won in the past few years. You have been shite this season. United have been shite this season. Arsenal have been shite this season. We have been shite this season. The only team that has played with any degree of consistency has been Chelsea.

We'll have to wait and see if you do buy our Raheem. As I've continuously stated, I can't see it happening this summer.

I think his agent may disagree with you Barney,as I posted a while back, his agent split with his original company to start up on his own, flogging sterling should put a few quid in the kitty to get him up and running.

Numerous articles in the press with one quoting Rogers rubbishing us a club, claiming a move to us by Sterling is some kind of backwards step amongst others led by ex players of yours.

The truth is he has every reason to move to a club like ours, especially when its success on the pitch he craves.

The fans may not have anything to do with the "paper that shall not be named" (and quite rightly) but be under no delusions that the club wont either.

I can't see Sterling staying at Liverpool if they miss out on the CL. City tried to keep an unsettled Yaya Toure and it didn't work.

Once a player decides to go, it's very very difficult to make it work.

Stering would be my No. 1 target. Always rated him since his very first days in a Liverpool shirt. Ibe looks good as well

Luis Suarez says hello.

As much as you wouldn't like to admit it Liverpool don't hold many cards mate, with him not willing to sign a new contract if you don't sell while you can command a decent fee you run the risk of losing him for penny's when he runs down his contract and both Raheem and any buying club knows this.

If he wasn't English he would be between £20-30mill so if £30 mill for me would be a decent price especially with Liverpool already having Jordan Ibe and seemingly hot on the tails of Memphis Depay for around £20 mill.
