Sizzler, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but please don't question our young talent, jesus Christ, look at recent history, not 25 years ago history, I mean the last few years. we've got some great kids, and with the academy starting, that will only get better

Well I only said that because the poster reckons we'll struggle to sign young talent. That's clearly bollocks. W'e just signed Gomez remember and the kid that refused to sign a contract with Arsenal as well as others in recent times.

Mate, ffs read the post you responded to. It clearly states I have issues with the way it has been handled by both parties. That should have given you an indication that I felt our club were also at fault. Last year I didn't like Rodgers saying Sterling was the best young talent in europe. I honestly had a feeling it would come back to bite him in the arse as Ward would use that to get a better deal. Perhaps he was also naive for saying sterling had been made a good offer even though I think it's our clubs duty to let the fans know what is going on as clearly the negotiations weren't going so smooth. I agree ex players coming out i not helpful either. However, you cannot make any case for Wards behaviour. He as acted toatally unprofessional with some of his comments. The bbc meeting without permission (irrespective of him wanting to get his appoint across) refusing to go on tour, briefing the media that you want to leave because of the manager etc etc. There is a list of things that their camp have done wrong.

Have to agree that neither side comes out of this fiasco with any credit. The reality now is that it has turned into a crock of shit and it needs dealing with sensibly and quickly, for everyone's sake. What you need to realise is that the onus is on the football club to bring this to an end. There is little else that Sterling and/or his agent can do that will move things along. They've made their position clear and Sterling handing in a transfer request is going to make little or no difference because Liverpool are still insisting that they want an un-realistic fee for a player who doesn't want to play for them. Liverpool need to stop dragging out ex players to slag him off and contact City and negotiate a fair price for him because you, me and every other person knows that 50 million is not a 'fair' price. 40 million is too much but I'm sure City would offer that upfront, single payment, PayPal, BACS or cheque, however you prefer if they were told that would clinch the deal. There is no logical benefit to player or club for him to travel half way round the world on a pre-season tour, Liverpool and Rodgers may feel it makes them appear as in control of the situation but it actually just makes them appear petty. Both sides could then dish out a few platitudes, wish each other well and move on. It's called 'looking at the bigger picture' and 'acting professionally', something which has been sadly lacking throughout this transfer saga.

Host on talkSPORT this morning said Sterling/City, Begovic/Chelsea and Cabaye/Palace could all be completed today.

I know talkSPORT isn't the most reliable, but the other two moves have been confirmed in the last hour. Is there a chance this could be done today?

Both deals more than likely agreed before this kicked off.

Apologies, when you said both parties I thought you meant City and Sterling. Nice to see you acknowledging that. Sterling has done wrong however would you rock up at a club where your phone number has been leaked, you are receiving death threats and racist abuse? The club hung him out to dry for the past few months about his contract and the dogs abuse he got at Stoke last game, maybe if it was handled better from the start we might be in a more civil place?

More than anything though you wont get many on here hammering Sterling for the main reason this being football. You had Lallana and Lovren behaving like this last summer and whilst you have agreed it was out of order I'm sure deep down you wouldn't be arsed because it's your club in the same way we don't care. You have took a fans favourite off us who ran his contract down to get a big signing on fee whilst the club who gambled 20 odd million on him received fuck all. Our club behaved brilliantly, our fans did but the other way round and the player/city are evil. It's football shit happens have a beer.

I agree with a lot if that. The death threats and racist abuse is bang out out of order. I'm a black guy myself. To be honest you have got a minority of racist fans at all clubs. By the way didn't a bunch of fans turn up at Rooney's house when he threatened to leave? Not saying it's right but it didn't stop Rooney from turning things round at utd. Fans are fickle. If Sterling stays and puts a shift in all will be forgiven and you know that.

The kid that refused to sign a contract with Arsenal? You mean the one that has been publicly hung out to dry by Wenger, Wright, Merson, Adams, Bergkamp, Henry, Parlour, Keown et al?

It weren't though. We signed Gomez just 3 weeks ago. It's nonsense for you to suggest because Sterling is looking to leave young talent won't want to come. It hasn't stopped ibe from renewing his contract even though clubs were sniffing.

In truth this is all just a tiff about pampered footballers, parasitic agents, spurned lovers and unprincipled negotiating tactics. Or, in other words, modern Premier League football.

We're buying a footballer, not Mother Theresa. If and when it ever suits him, he'll be off somewhere else.

One thing though: City have played a pretty straight bat so far and LFC are the party who have done most to harm their reputation. If only the journos could see that and call them out.

Keep Ibe warm for us.

More than anything, i'm surprised the club hasn't condemned the abuse, racist and otherwise, from the group of idiots and defended a player they ostensibly want to keep.
