You can't say 'if he's worth 45m, then he's worth 50m' otherwise if he's worth 50m, he's worth 55m, then 60m.

If he's worth 45m, he's worth 45m.
but our first bid was £25m plus £5m add ons so does that mean he's only worth £30m? or is he worth £40m like our second bid suggests? or £45m? this is all very confusing.

Why do people keep saying we 'should do this' & 'should do that' when they don't know what we are or aren't doing ?

It's bizarre.

Posting to faceless strangers on the web is a bit bizarre too! I suppose it's just passing time really.
I know people start sentences with 'we should be...' but it's just a turn of phrase really. We're all just spouting personal opinion at the end of the day, some a bit whackier than others, but it passes a bit of time, and avoids mowing the lawn!

Exactly.

And if the club thinks hes worth no more than £45m I'm pleased for tgem to do what they can to barter Liverpool down to that amount.

Only works if he eventually comes I'm afraid.
Seeing as we've already bid for Sterling, twice, we've been prepared to have the signing done for quite a while and thus prepared to pay him during his holidays so I don't see how it works now either.

We don't know what City's real valuation is. The rest yes, is a bit of drama and posturing on both sides. Just like when we go car buying, We know our budgets in our head, but we lie to the salesman, and he lies to us, until finally we're still lying to each other, but think we've lied the best to get the best deal! You drive home telling the wife you drove an incredibly hard bargain, and he's counting his commission saying exactly the same.

We have an upper limit of what we're prepared to pay. We try and get him cheaper, but once we pass that upper limit we walk.

If we bought him on July 1st we would have paid him a few hundred thousand in wages while he was on holidays.

You don't miss out on one of your top targets for the sake of £5 million IMO.

If we were miles away from Liverpools valuation then fair enough but not when we are so close.
