Every time I see him he is average. No better than Navas. We need a genuine threat not another nearly man.

We should just have the kids as homegrown because there isn't one English player worthy of a first 11 spot.

If the club want this lad and have really done their homework then NOW is the time. Liverpool out of the Champions League, his form is indifferent/+ the odd disciplinary issue and and not yet a guaranteed starter for England. The lad probably wants a move and Liverpool will want to do their business early for once - they know all they can offer him next year is an outside shot at Top 4.

Another point which many forget is that's very young still and Liverpool have run him into the ground as they did with Torres and every other big player they've had recently. It clearly got to him when Rodgers had to give him that break mid-season. We'd be offering him the physical and mental recovery time he needs as he develops, and our squad would allow for this.

I'd offer them 35m or Dzeko/Jovetic + 22m (though doubt they'd touch the latter given Sturridge's injury record). It's a lot of money but it's less than they would have demanded a few months ago. I'd also hope the club won't be offering him silly wages, this is one transfer where we'd definitely be doing him a favour and he has no right to walk in amongst the top earners.

Surely that's the kind of call the director's should be taking to earn their crust. Putting in bids for huge names like Bale/Pogba is surely going to swallow up the transer kitty pretty quickly? - and we definitely need numbers in this summer.

It's the complete opposite of the Pogba situation where the lad is being courted by every big club and is going to be lining up in a Champions League Final in a month's time. If you look at this window a bit like the stockmarket then surely we should be looking at the bull market? Unless we actually have 200m, in which case just get Bale, De Bruyne and Pogba :)

He's 20 years old! Despite his indifferent form recently, he has 7 goals this season; Navas has 4 in three league seasons in his prime.

Not one English player worthy of the first 11? Baines, Terry, Cahill, Rooney, Carrick, Kane, Sturridge, Stones, Wilshere, Shaw, Walcott and Sterling, IF fit, would all walk into our starting 11, while young talents like Ibe, Berahino, Barkley, Grealish and Hughes could all be useful squad players immediately, becoming established first team players within a few years.

Our kids have talent but not many of them will realistically make it; we have to cherry pick the best talent from other clubs.

you're an idiot if you think Cahill, Carrick Shaw, Walcott or Sturridge, Stones would be an automatic choice for our first 11

This is Navas' second season with City...

I didn't follow him way back then but I expect he is a hell of alot better than a 20 year old Navas.

Navas was very good when he was younger (and is still much better than people on here give him credit for).

2007-2008
Goals: 4
Assists: 12

2008-2009
Goals: 5
Assists: 15

2009-2010
Goals: 10
Assists: 18

(All competitions, but mainly in La Liga and Europe when Sevilla were also rans.)
