Problem is we lose out on him, Milner and lanpard gone. Means our focus is going to be more aligned with the home grown players

I agree that Sterling would be a great pickup for many reasons....He is the only one that would improve our starting 11, fill a massive area of need (bring pace into the side) AND be home grown....all at the same time! Think he would be worth the money...and one player we cant miss out on this transfer window...him and Pogba just make too much sense not to throw the money at....

It's him or Barkley really

I think it would be stupid for Sterling to go to Real. I know Benitez took him to Anfield but he would have to compete with Isco, Bale, Ronaldo and Rodriguez for a place in that side. He might be confident but he'd be stupid to think it would be a good place to go and further his career. If he does then we should be testing their resolve on Isco or Bale. I'd rather Isco and he'd cost less money but we should test the situation on both.

It's typical of Real to be linked to Sterling but publicly distancing themselves from Pogba (the player they actually need).

That's good, Balague is very reliable.
He has very good connections, but it doesn't mean that he does not report some proper bullshit at times. However, I would expect from him that he at least knows some outgoing stuff from Real and Barca.

The Benitez - Sterling history makes the papers' headline, of course, whatever the truth is.

The Sterling to Madrid stuff has been reported by di Marzio who is far more reliable than Balague. That's not to say it will happen. I still would be surprised if Liverpool weren't pushing the Sterling to Madrid/ Bayern stuff as the last thing they want to do is sell to an English club.
