So why do you think City are leaking it ?

The one thing I think we can all be absolutely confident in is that City will not be leaking any of the details of this or any deal. Does anyone think Sheikh Khaldoon is phoning the mirror saying "fuck this Sterling deal we are now after Wilshire but shhhhhhh don't tell anyone else"

Heard on the radio this morning that if he comes, Sterling will be on 190k a week. That is fucked up. He may be good but he's not worth that.

Are the bids going backwards, thought we already offered £40m?

Spiderboy.....the lastest rumour was that City are now thinking of offering 40mil cash upfront. The last offer was also 40mil but it was made up of 35mil upfront and 5mil in add-ons.....I guess its the same offer but this would mean Liverpool would get all the money now, so might be seen as an improved offer for them...

Oops! Made an eejit of myself trying to post on this new format.

Nothing to see here! Move along!

Let's never speak of this again.

You cannot specify confidentiality in a bid for someones player and Liverpool are well known for relasing player signed and sold figures. Liverppol will be briefing the media all the time to try make everyone look like the bad guy and poor old Liverpool
BBC broke the story as far as I am aware at 9.40 am, or were one of the first with it, and they knew the value of the bid, and that it was likely to be rejected. So this is coming from Liverpool. They are probably hoping someone else will come in for him, or spinning it for the benefit of their supporters.....we extracted the max value etc.

I'd move on, sign that kid from Fulham. Doesn't have to go straight in the 1st team. Home grown rule relates to players in the squad I think rather than match day squad.

Move on. No one will match this bid, and if they do L'pool will surely make us aware, or the player will, and then Liverpool will be panicking come the new season and will have to sell for whatever they can get, or they can say goodbye to 2015/16 and the player in months. They only have one sensible way out. The other is a gamble.
