What a player is worth is only a matter of opinion, but City will have worked out the value of this player (plus the premium of him being HG), and will only spend up to their maximum amount planned.
If it doesn't go through then Liverpool are foolish, turning down a £35-£40mill offer for a player who doesn't want to be there, and has been in poor form for them.
A Sterling transfer request is what we need next, I believe the guys in charge of our transfer negotiations will not go any higher now until Sterling speaks out on what he wants.
I agree with an earlier poster, we have to know when to say no - getting carried with higher and higher offers will not help us pay our planned fee's for other targets. There is no need to listen to what ESPN say and flap and panic that we will end up with only Delph, Roberts and Wilshere this window. Our owners know what they need to do this window. If they don't do what they need to do, then we have to question the people involved in the transfers. But that's for a different time and a different thread.
