Selling players would be a breeze with some posters. Leak that another club is interested (despite all evidence to the contrary) and there is a collective shitting of pants before demands to spend what it takes.

Yes. About 6-9 months ago. And Chelsea aren't at the races. Have you not seen the clear bollocks in the media about Chelsea. Liverpool reject our offer and want £50m. Chelsea suddenly decide they want Sterling but not for more than £40m. They can't afford him under FFP. They need to balance their books and aren't considering selling many this summer. We're capable of paying the £50m. We're not in any rush. If other clubs were seriously snooping around then we'd have acted by now. Isco and Hazard were never in the bag. Isco was floating between us and Real and there was also the issue with his Dad wanting a huge fee that we weren't willing to pay. Hazard, similarly had high agent fees that the club didn't want to pay at the time. Don't panic.

Liverpool were in for firmino, we are in for sterling ,we make it known to liverpool that we will go for firmino and drive the price up,we then make an offer for sterling with the added bonus of not going for firmino ,sterling is in the bag for us,firmino is in the bag for Liverpool but some how the price has gone up by £10m anyway,Liverpool panic and say yes we will pay ,because they've already lost sterling.
