The club are teasing us along here aren't they?. Never known us take so long to get our targets in, and at this rate we'll still be fannying about come 31st August. I just wonder if Txiki is nowhere near Garry Cook at negotiating for players. With Cook it was boom, boom, player signed, no messing about, with Txiki it seems to be " right shall we put a bid in or not".
this isn't your first "needy" post is it?

Cook was able to go out and offer clubs money and players salaries each above their pay grade, and we weren't dealing with the top bracket players. It's like comparing my mate managing to get a twix from the shop for £3, and you negotiating a Walmart takeover - exaggerated for effect of course.

Hi Man city fan 72.....understand why you frustrated mate! think many feel the same...What we cant forget is that....we don't know the whole story and don't know whats going on behind closed doors and I think that's why its difficult to understand why its taking so long....I would agree tho...having had 2 bids rejected 2 weeks ago and knowing the valuation Liverpool have put on Sterling, most of the hard work should have been done. They not going to drop their price!....Either we offer close to the 50mil or walk away. Waiting only hurts us as its delays Sterling joining/training with the team...If we still want the kid and feel he's worth the 50mil valuation, then putting in that improved offer now makes sense so he can join the tour....I still think this can be done before both teams go on tour but like you have said, I will start questioning, if there hasn't been any movement in the next 7 days...I know we cant put a time scale on these things but I bet Pelle is knocking on Txiki's door every day saying, get these kids in so he can start working with them....

I certainly hope Milner doesnt turn his head though :(

If Milner were 25 again I am sure he'd join us all over again!
He joined at the right time, he left at the right time!
He can't have any regrets in joining us, he won an FA cup, League cup, 2 titles and got to play some of the biggest and best sides in Europe.
Milner knows the score!!

Agree. Sterling surely asked Milner about City, but I can`t imagine James to say anything negative about the club.

They should have accepted £40m

Liverpool's want-away winger Raheem Sterling is the most valuable player aged 21 or under in Europe, with three other English stars in the top 20.

The England star is rated at almost £35m, almost £7m more than any other young player on the continent.

Stones' dominating performances for Everton at centre back have seen him valued at £11.8m

Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, one of the emerging stars of the Gunners' form in the second half of last season, is No 20 on the list with a value of just over £10m.

The values, compiled in the Soccerex 20 U-21 report, take into account a variety of factors, from their club and international form to any potential injury problems, and even their club's recent ability to sell players for big money.

The perception of a player's market value, as indicated by newspapers and websites, were also considered, as they can influence a players actual value, as was the length of time remaining on their contract.

Lol that escalated quickly. My point was that he should not be convincing him in any other way like "they want you only for HG tag, wont play you enough, here you have more fellow countrymen", etc.

Since, Milner played 45 times last season and gave the reason to leave as "lack of playing time". Dont know what else he may feed to him. Just skeptical nothing else.

If Milner's gone for playing time, it's actually in his interest for Sterling to leave. Bizarre I know but that seems to be his motive.

For weeks he has not been worth the money touted, proved nothing and done nothing in the game yet as soon as the press get wind of the deal being imminent, Sly Sports who have been more than willing to carry the "he isnt worth it" gang along suddenly pop up an article claiming he is the most valuable young player in Europe.

Hilarious.
