18 months is a long time in football though and If City don't think he'll sign a new contract then his place in the matchday squad may be in jeopardy, especially if Torres, Grealish, Palmer etc are injury free and playing better and we buy a new striker. The problem with that is Sterling would probably prefer to sit tight at the best club in the world collecting huge wages and leave for a free at the end of his contract and bag even more money for himself than risk going to a team who are in danger of being relegated.
Plus, living in Barcelona or Newcastle? Don't think anybody is that daft are they?
It's possible that both scenarios are true. The club might think he deserves one as well as protecting their investment down the line.If they thought he didn't deserve one, then it makes no sense to offer him one. Yeah you protect his transfer value, but you also commit to paying him 300k a week for a lot longer than you would. Gets to a point where letting him leave on a free makes more sense than extending but being unable to move him on.
All true mate but I don't see him leaving unless it's on his terms, by that I mean going to a club he wants to go to.18 months is a long time in football though and If City don't think he'll sign a new contract then his place in the matchday squad may be in jeopardy, especially if Torres, Grealish, Palmer etc are injury free and playing better and we buy a new striker.
That in turn will probably affect his World Cup place, as England seem to be over-loaded with young midfielders/ attackers and i doubt Southgate can justify picking a player who may not be playing regularly over those who are.
Unless he signs a new deal, i think he'll be moved on in the summer at the latest.
they could offer £400.000 a weekThey won't be offering Sterling 600k a week mate. Haha!
I'm no fan of Sterling and hope he gets sold, but I cannot for the life of me think he would be happy to go to Newcastle who might not be even in the PL next season.they could offer £400.000 a week

He is no longer good enough for us, but he is too good for them
We of all fans should realise its possible to attract players when we too did't initially look an attractive prospect. Newcastle also have a PL title in their not too distant history. If we did it so too can they.He is no longer good enough for us, but he is too good for them
We had European football to offer as top 10 side, and no FFP.We of all fans should realise its possible to attract players when we dont initially look an attractive prospect.
Robinho, tevez, silva, toure, aguero, etc etc etc.
