We had European football to offer as top 10 side, and no FFP.
FFP wont hit newcastle very hard as they have notoriously hardly spent under ashley...all while having a healthy fanbase. The figure available to them in January alone is rumoured to be around 200m.

All true mate but I don't see him leaving unless it's on his terms, by that I mean going to a club he wants to go to.
Newcastle are not that club.
Oh yeah totally agree.

I can't see him staying in the PL unless it's us or maybe, arsenal

I saw there was there some talk of a swap for Frankie de Jong a couple of weeks ago , is that still on the cards, and if so ,is FdJ would it be a reasonable deal? Can't say I've seen him that I remember, and don't trust YouTube, as I could look good on that, and I'm knocking on a bit and three stone over weight.

He'd still burn through 3/4 of the wages budget increase at 300k without giving them issues next year, much better to get 4/5 guys in at 100k a week.

It's possible that both scenarios are true. The club might think he deserves one as well as protecting their investment down the line.
I suppose just because the supporters (in the main) have given up on him it doesn't mean City have.
Who knows, it's all guesswork right now.

Agree with that. My post was not in any way against Sterling. It was in response to what was alluded that the club would only offer him a contract to.protect their interest. Which doesn't necessarily make sense. If they offer hin a contract, they in large part will think he is worth it.

Yeah I shouldn’t have alluded to it being the only reason tbf.

So the Metro saying Sterling is valued at £45m. Well I know he hasn't been performing at his top level for a couple of years but that doesn't drop his value from £80mish to £45m. Fuck me Pogbad has been playing shit for 5 years and is still valued at £100m by the rags and media!
I'd say that £45m is about right... if the club wants a guaranteed sale. There'll be plenty of interest all around Europe at that figure. There's no way we'd get anywhere near £80m for him.

I suspect that the club would see £45m a good figure if it got £350k a week off the books.
