A section of City fans have regularly needed a scapegoat down through the years. Remember the abuse Richard Edghill got? Why should now be any different?

The treatment Edgehill got was abysmal.
Some fans like a scapegoat they think it gives them some football acumen.

In reality our recruitment , players professionalism and team success proves the management has got it spot on.
As for Sterling , some people didn't like where he came from, some didn't like his running style, some think he has no technique Some are upset because he is not seen as 100 % loyal .300 appearances and over 100 goals ain't going to change their opinions.
Some of them will hurt just like scouserrs and rags because they dislike him so much.
.To me he is like the rest of the squad, professional , willing to learn and a winner,.

Don't ever relate Blues to rags or dippers if opinions differ on certain players, fucking stupid comment that.

I'm far from his biggest fan,but do I go fucking mental when he scores for us.course I do,he's a blue until further notice

Rags and dippers for fuck sake, fucking retract that comment

Sterling has 103 goals in the Premier League from 307 appearances. Mahrez plays an equivalent role on City's right and is rightly regarded as one of the best players in his position. Mahrez has 72 goals in the Premier League from 242 appearances.

What do you want?

I agree he can be frustrating as a player because he has poor spells and he could score even more goals but look at what he has produced. He is criticised because he has not yet reached his full potential.

Of course I will not retract that statement.

We have thousands of great loyal supporters, we have some nobbys.
Just the same as other clubs.

I posted several years ago about an occasion I had to pull up a couple of season card holders for screaming obscenities including words like black , scouse, soft, along with the usual industrial language. Some City fans do have views we could both agree are not great.

I will converse with anybody about his weaknesses, there are some, but he has worked hard to become an all round consistent player making over 30 appearances in each premier league season for 6 years.

Are his detractors correct and those managers and coaching staff who select him idiots ?

And yes some posters will be very happy if he were to leave. They have already stated that opinion over and over again.

A combination of working his way back into the team and probably the realisation that he can’t really go anywhere else that is at a similar level currently
I am pretty sure that like Rudiger, if he was to run his contract down he could earn a lot of money. If I were him I'd stay at City because at City he can improve still further.

Fair enough

I'm not gonna argue or fall out with you,but what I will say,in all my years of supporting City,I've never ever known a player to receive such a sacred untouchable bubble around him,who can do no wrong ever,it's called being a fanboy, where the actual truth is no player will ever be bigger than the club.

Dont think for one minute Sterling has been abused either on here or at the match , disappointed absolutely , we are entitled to voice an opinion if a player is playing well below his abilities and lacking commitment at times.
Criticism is part of life as a professional footballer as are all the plaudits Raheem has recieved , if you had asked me a couple of months ago about a contract renewal then i would have been reticent about any huge wage increase.
Glad to say Sterling has rammed mine and many others criticism down our throats and is now looking back to his best ,but there is a big difference between abuse and criticism
