One of the best signings the club ever made. Never understood the animosity towards him. I hope we can persuade him to stay because I think he'll benefit enormously from Haaland joining. He suffered once Sane left from the absence of another player to match him for pace on the opposite side. Losing him will likely mean that we again lack pace in attack. If he is determined to leave then hopefully we can negotiate a reasonable fee with another club. Has to be upwards of £50m, even with a year on his contract. It'll cost significantly more than that to replace him.

True.He might refuse to leave. If he becomes a free agent its a huge payday for him. Thats the likeliest outcome for me, stays next season then goes on a Bosman
In that case then he isn't committed to the club long term.
Buy his replacement and let Sterling be a sub for the season. Can't give huge minutes to somebody whose mind isn't here.

his mind will be here, right up to his last day if the club want him. Never struck me a player who gives up, he’ll still play.

If he’s needed he play. Palmer is a completely diff skill set. Sterling has tools the others don’t. Edozie might have a shot at stealing some of his time though depending how his preseason goes.I'm not saying he won't try or doesn't want to play, it's likely he still very much does.

I wasn’t downplaying his contributions, but being the guy who always could be counted on is no small featYeah as impressive as his fitness has been I don't think he'll be remembered for being the guy who was always available.
