I suspect our fans will show a lot more class than the Dipper fans did after he left them.
While we've not always covered ourselves in glory on this front (I for one could never understand the stick Distin got after serving the club well for 5 years), by and large I think our fans don't get too bitter when players move on. And we tend to appreciate the job many players have done post-takeover in helping establish City into what is currently the most successful club in England. City fans tend to be able to accept that it's a job to most players and as long as they do their job to the best of their ability when they're here then we won't stand in their way if they wish to move on. Many Liverpool fans, on the other hand, think that players should view their club as the be all and end all and how dare any of them ever fancy a change of scenery. It's probably why Keegan isn't viewed by them as a club legend because he had the audacity to decide to move to Hamburg straight after winning the league and European Cup with them. And while they don't seem massively bitter about Mane going, they're already trying to discredit his choice of club and saying it's not a challenge going to the Bundesliga.

Having grown up in London, I'm guessing that could be a factor in this move and it's not purely down to footballing reasons.

If it does go through, despite reservations from a lot of fans about certain aspects of his game I can absolutely guarantee that he gets a much warmer welcome from City fans when he turns out against us for his new club than Liverpool fans gave him after he'd signed for us.
Probably got loads of family and friends there. I honestly do not care why he wants to go, I wish him all the very best at his new club.

Didn't Distin come out with some bollocks about Portsmouth being a bigger and better club though ?

Some players don't cover themselves in glory at times, never mind fans

Sterling has served us well, but he's never gonna be the first name on the team sheet. He's a great option to have against certain teams though and his pace is a real asset. He could still do a job for us but if game time is what he wants, we can't offer him the kind of minutes he wants as he's just not in that world class bracket. We need a pacey wide man if he goes. I suspect the Cucurella interest will ramp up if Sterling leaves.
