I've been to Southampton every year since they came back. After the shambles last year I then got a lift to Birmingham followed by a coach to London and another to Stansted to fly to Madrid, our first CL semi final.
I was also at the debacle in Monaco, so what's your point

It was one of several objectively poor games at the end of last season, including draws against relegated Newcastle and Swansea. I was also at the Madrid semi and we were unbelievably lackluster and demotivated.

The difference with this season, particularly in its conclusion, is night and day.

Was that not at the end of Pellegrini's last year ?

Yes, but narrative.

Fuckinell, it's had its ups and downs but 3/10 seems pretty harsh! Haha!

Obviously very disappointing in terms of results but some magical moments and the best season for me after 2012 and 2014. So I’ll go for 8/10.

IMO poor results can very easily taint the perception of the quality of the underlying performance. So many games this season where we have been the best side but messed up or were screwed over. Looking at the facts & stats it's hard to conclude anything other than that the foundation for future has been more than set and all this crap in the media that Pep can't do it in the PL is a load of carp.

Some pretty numbers which I guess back up my point:

1st PL team to average over 60% possession for a season (yeh yeh it means jack shit in isolation but symptomatic of the Pep effect)
1st PL team to be dominant in possession in every single game played

Best away record by a City side in 80+ top flight seasons.
Highest number of away goals in a league season by a City side for c60 years

Highest ranked team this season in the Big 5 European leagues in terms of restricting opponents to fewest attempts at goal.
Restricting opponents to only 2.76 on target attempts per league game played. No PL team has had a better record in the 16 previous PL seasons where the data is available (Chelsea better this season only by a smidgeon)

Best TSR (ratio of total shots for and against) in the league this season and the best by a PL team since Chelsea in 2010

xG (Expected goals by quality of chances) best in PL this season by a distance

xGA (Expected goals against by quality of chances conceded) 2nd in the league only to Chelsea

xGD ( expected goal difference) best in the PL this season by a distance

City have been the best team in terms of xG in a staggering 35 of the 38 league games this season. This compares to Chelsea 30/38, Spurs 31/38, Arsenal 24/38, Liverpool 29/38 and Rags 28/38.

7 out of 10 we've been much better than last season and we are a work in progress(I liked Pellers but with the signings and the performances it didn't look like he was taking the team anywhere or building towards something) despite not winning anything we are looking better and better, I'd take a better league finish over a league cup win personally. Just by comparing our points tallies, remembering the same vulnerable defence was a year older and slower than it was when Pellers left and the shocking ref performances we've endured against pretty much all the top 6 teams kind of puts it into perspective how many things Pep had going against him out of his control this season.

On the plus side no other manager has come close to getting our players playing as well as we have in Europe this season... I don't care how far we got last season we weren't impressive for the most part and a lot of the games were dull affairs, even the Monaco away game(2nd half) was a big improvement the majority of performances the previous season and it would have been a good game for the neutral no matter how frustrating it was for us. This season should have had Blues embracing the competition looking forward to more next season.

8/10

Been unplayable at times, and had some really great results. If it wasn't for a couple of very suspect officiating (v Arse FA Cup, and Chelski at home as well as others), then we could be talking Champions and an FA Cup final to come. Chelsea kicked on after we were cheated, but if it had been a fair fight we would have been 6 points closer to them. All ifs, buts and maybes; still 8/10 though
8?
we did worst than last season and spent 150 million
