RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

genuine question - are we a beter team without KDB and Grealish at present..... We know KDB's quality and Im not doubting that for a second but this season has been poor from him....mainly due to clearly not being fit.....but we cantafford passengers and our best displays have come without him or Grealish in the team
We look a far better balanced team, with kdb not playing at the moment,as you mentioned can’t afford passengers in games, organise behind closed door games to get the players who need some sort of match fitness ..

Ive been banging that drum for quite a while,i even made a thread about the situation.KDB,although not quite the force he was,is still one of the best players in the world,however.....i believe we play better as a cohesive unit without him.His omission allows the talents of Bernie,Phil,Gundo and Rodri to flourish and we get the most out of them both individually and collectively.

As for Grealish,he hasn't yet clicked as i believed he would, but its still far too early to be conclusive.Leaving him out would be counter productive.
I honestly don’t think we will see the grealish Peps wants to mould until next season. For now it’s going to be a mixed bag of performance levels from him.

I don’t think Fern is shot at all….like most he needs a run of games which we can’t give him considering Rodri’s form.

I expect his last season with us though. Fern and Carson are ancient!

meaningless game so what did we expect, i thought we would have seen young players from the start, was a bit confused to see a stronger team last night than last couple of Prem games.

it wasnt an off day it was cant be arsed and stroll. bad passes, no position, just looked like a friendly.

end of day made no difference as we topped the group before KO, i wonder what UEFA will do to stop this type of game in the future, make the last game 4 points for a win ! Or even 1 point for every goal scored !

ok the calm after the storm meaningless game that got us all hot under the collar.
but the truth is we topped the group with a game to play so the hard job was done a couple of weeks ago
Didn't get me hot on the collar. We lost a dead rubber with half a team out. That's it.

Walker gets an automatic 1 game ban for the red card. However, the UEFA Disciplinary panel can look at it and increase the ban up to 3 games. So expect a 3 match ban then as the bent bastards just love to have us over!

LOL

He is 36 he is not going to get any sort of run of games.

The answer was to be seen at the start of the season, he had a long summer vacation, a full pre season and still looked knackered in the first games.

Sadly his legs have gone.

They looked ok while kicking a lovely pass to Jesus resulting in the Bernardo goal Vs Villa.

Im wary of writing him off as I’ve seen BM do it for years only for him to put in a great performance and everyone to post “he’s still got it” !

Sorry mate, but you're getting your games mixed up

Fernandinho's main role has been reduced to late substitutions in games where we need to kill time and concede/win cheap free kicks. That's how he scored the late goal v West Ham, before they notched a consolation with the last kick of the game.

In contrast, Fernandinho has unfortunately aged in recent months, and is now a liability when he starts big games. He was poor last night and he was poor at Villa Park.
You are right bud it was West Ham. The game last night was meaningless. Rodri can have a rest and Fern can get few minutes. I see no harm in it. If anyone deserved abit of slack it’s Fernandinho.

Yep 100% I can't believe how well Phil Foden is doing at Barcelona.
My Weetabix has just ended up all over the keyboard. I remember now the main reason I come on here..... to make me laugh and ponder the vagaries of life the Universe and everything...the meaning of life in other words..... the answer 42! :-) :-)

And for those thinking because I am eating my breakfast that I have only just got up no, no, no, I am not allowed to eat until 1 hour after my tablets. Matron won't allow it. :-) ;-)

Kev showed signs he still has the brain and instincts to return to form very soon. Anyone who has had Covid with even mild symptoms needs to get back to full fitness and some take longer than others. Grealish worries me though, when Pep decided to swap Sterling to the false 9 in the second half, we lost all our normal left wing threat. I can’t see where the £100m player is yet, maybe we never will

I haven't read the whole thread but i can't see too many people complaining about actually losing a game that didn't really matter but i do understand the annoyance of us using it as a training game and then not playing any of the kids.
You don't often get throwaway games in the CL, it was an ideal game last night to give a few of the kids more experience in the CL.
Fcuk it, i'll go give my fanny a wipe

He is 36, there is nothing to write off, he has been a magnificent player but now at the very most can only contribute cameos of a few minutes.

Rodri is playing a lot of minutes and we witnessed at the end of last season his fatigue and resultant loss of form, and it probably cost us a champions league title, he needs to be rotated more but Fern can no longer do that.

Not concerned about the result, but the drop off in quality, decision making, movement and energy was disappointing to say the least.
all to do with a % drop off in intensity/concentration call it whatever but at this level it makes a difference especially when the oppo has something to play for and an empty stadium gives you nothing to feed off
you could argue it was the same for liverpool but in salah they have a deadly finisher, we had chances just not clinical

Foden is best on left, Sterling on the right so looks like Pep is trying to find somewhere for Jack. That said we are top of the league and in the last 16 so I will bow to Peps superior knowledge
